Tell me why this wouldn't work.

4x4 wooden posts with 2x4 (or similar) feet. Then I stake down each foot by just hammering some rebar down on it. Is this retarded? I want to be able to move the sails relatively easily compared to sinking posts into the ground with concrete.

You'd struggle with the tension the sails are usually under. Maybe with something like camo netting (so it doesn't catch wind) and a saggy setup it could stand, but it won't look nice or block much.

a 4x4 isn't strong enough to hold tension if it was sunk into a concrete pier, let alone using surface-level feet.
just get an umbrella stand if you want something mobile.

4x4 posts is the first stupid part, you don't need more than a strong pole
the second is not using guy lines instead. physics is your friend.
if I were going to do it like pic, like say my uncle owned a 4x4 post rental and they were free, I'd dunk them in a barrel each and fill it with cement. easy to move around with leverage, again physics is your friend.

Could use small ground screws for a not-entirely-permanent install, that'd be the not so shitty variant.
