How high could I go? I'm thinking if I get some more telescoping tubes with some kind of base plate to support the weight.

use picrel. get a slingshot and something like a 10mm socket with some fishing line. lay out enough fishing line backwards to make sure it doesn't tangle and ensure it doesn't get caught on limbs and such during the launch. the goal is to lay the fishing line down such that when you tie the socket onto the end and launch it into the tree, you want enough slack that it makes it up and over, but not much more.

use something smooth and heavy which won't get caught, yet has enough mass to slip on the tree branch. lower the launched socket down, tie off the rope saw, and then pull backwards to set the rope chainsaw up on the tree. you might need to tie extensions onto the pull cables, but no big deal.

it takes a few shots to get it to land in the tree where you want. it is much easier than you think. I cut down a tree in my front yard in the same situation you had. I couldn't buy a pole saw long enough and didn't want to climb. practice shooting lines with a slingshot.

excellent slingshot. the kids toy ones you will find at walmart/target are not powerful enough. you can get different band strengths for these and are very much worth it.

since this seems to be the polesaw thread instead of >>>/diy/ptg/
the 3013 shillwaukee saw is a fucking tank but all the way out at 13ft its still shaky and takes double effort to get where you want it
