Are you guys into sorting scrap metal and alloys? What's your source? Do you just dive into trash, or have an agreement with local business and just take broken electronics and cables from time to time?
I have a bunch of wheely bins the city was trashing and gave away for free that I sort all my stuff in. I'll curb pick and there are a few thrift stores here that scrap anything that doesn't work or isn't sellable. I usually wait until the bins are full but if copper or brass price spikes I'll wheel them on the trailer and take it in.

>>2999477eurofag here. iron/steel is usually not worth it unless we are talking hundreds of kilos during a reconstruction etc. aluminum and copper are more interesting, but i don't have much of that scrap really. brass, on the other hand is totally worth it (old faucets, valves, connectors). you take these to the le metal recycling center (a scrap yard with buy-back). taking scrap lying near the roads is very rare, as our gypsies take care of all that (and far beyond). up to the situation you have to tell a bank account in the scrap yard, no cash, for you to be traceble. no issue for normal people, but prevents gypsies from stealing manhole covers and cables en masse (usually).

>>2999477I take a dump trailer load or two of steel in per year. Nothing fancy, just ends and bits and bobs I cut off of other steel when cleaning it up or using it for projects. Do have a bin of copper that I have been sorting into. Should probably take it in sometime. Dead batteries get taken to o'reillys because they will put $10 each onto a gift card which is way better than then the scrapyard pays.Not really worth it for the money, but keeps the scrap cleaned up around the farm and better than paying to dump it at the landfill.

I got these bowling alley chairs for free a while back and salvaged the huge chonkin feet, some nice heavy T-shaped bar, a bunch of bolts and nuts, and some sheets of plastic from the backs. The chair seat frame itself is in my scrap bin for the next run and the rest of the plastic got burned.

>>3001766Cut them up to make plastic isolators, plastic washers, cut strips.out of them for plastic welding/repair. Etc. It's always handy to have some decent plastic stock kicking around among with thick rubber sheet and belting for different projects.
