you can heat up acrylic glass (carefully not to burn it) and bend it into other shapes. I made a custom stand for my lego knockoff tiger I tank that fits snugly around my dolby surround center box. Like a glove.

What everyone else said plus thawing pipes, and also warming up vinyl upholstery material to get it to stretch around tight corners, and warming rattle cans in the middle of winter to get paint to spray better.

Anyways, a project for you: I made sheaths for my axes and a blade protector for a my scythe with one of those, en lieu to what previous commenters suggested:
Cut up PVC tube, flatten, mold around an axe edge, rivet seams et voila. Holds b itself like a holster, no strap needed. Beforw I had leather ones that would be heldon by an elastic band around the poll and it would never take long for the thing to accidentially be cut.

Most heat lances I've used are on a long pole. Tape it to a broom handle or you'll be crawling like a fool

If you have a 3d printer you can use it to heat up a model and press it onto another model so it bends and takes its shape. Its called thermoforming. If you want to make custom packaging for toys or small products you can use it for vacuforming although that requires some extra devices

My preferred method for starting charcoal for BBQ - fill a metal chimney with charcoal, tilt, apply heat gun at different points till coals are lit then apply more heat on top. Fun part is at first the coals start to glow, then you start getting lots of sparks, then WHOOSH, mass reaches a sort of flashover point where you’re in turbo mode as you direct the heat clear up the chimney - makes a cool sound. That’s when you know you have most of the coals lit.

Use heat gun or a torch to flatten end of caulk tubes, cut out a small triangle on top and you’ll get a nice clean bead.

Also fun to make with pvc - diy archery bows. You can make remarkable bows and give them a wood like appearance with a little paint and gel stain. You can insert a bundle of fiberglass rods if you want to make it more powerful and harder to draw.

I use mine to heat up dried out wooden knife handles and sweat some wax in to freshen them up.

I also use my heat gun at the grill… I often grill pizza; the bottom toasts nicely way before the top, so when the bottom is done, I turn iff the burners and apply high heat to the top. It browns the pizza crust edge to your liking and adds a bit of char to the meats. Heat gun is great alternative to a broiler … brown custards, garlic bread, etc

How hot do these Bosch ones get? We have a Leister big boy hand welder that gets up to 1100, and a hand held one that takes Bosch 18v batteries that bets up to 932.

Perfect roasted marshmallows every time.
I also tried it for working confectionary. It was okay but it tended to apply heat too locally compared to a heat lamp.

I use mine for heatsink covers over cables, tuning up Kydex sheaths and holsters to fit a little better in specific areas, melting waxes for rubbing into leather or metal
Also works for softening paint when doing paintless pin dent removal, heating up plastic bumpers and popping out dings from them too
