What should I do here? I only have about 5 inches of clearance between the dryer and the wall, else the door is blocked. I looked into telescoping vents but I think I still don't have the necessary clearance and I want to avoid modding the door if possible.

They make sheet metal telescoping ducting for close clearance dryer installations. If you go this route you might have to trim it or otherwise modify it to make it fit your application exactly, and when you do get it to fit I'd recommend taping up all the seams with some foil ductwork tape in order to keep lint from leaking out of it. I've considered getting one of those magnetic connectors and attaching to my sheet metal duct in order to make it an easy to attach and de-tach thing for sliding the dryer out and cleaning behind it.

>>3001804holy shit OP are you new to appliances? you know you can route the vent thru the sides not just the back... look at the lower corner in that pic.. see that round cutout right there? you can remove that cover and literally route the vent thru that hole instead of out the back. and you dont need any fancy gadgets to connect it to the wall.
