I inherited this. I want to refurbish it. How much work is it going to take to make it safe/usable? Does anyone have a guide that will spoon-feed me step by step instructions?

Since it's charcoal, and on concrete, it's perfectly usable as is. It's not rocket surgery. Just sand it down and hit it with some hi-temp paint
>>3002373Start by getting the rust off with sandpaper and wire brushes. Then paint the outside with some high temp spraypaint and coat the inside bits with some cheap cooking oil to protect from rust. Then run it without food in there the first time to season that oil
>>3002378>>3002377What grit for the sand paper and what's a good brand for the paint that's food safe?
>>3002373>safe/usableIt is usable and it is safe>refurbish itTake everything you can take apart apart. The more you take apart the easier and tidier will the refurbishment be. For example if you can replace them drill out the rivets for the nameplate. Give everything a good cleanup. If you want use paint stripper on everything. Take everything back to bare metal with a clean and strip disc on an angle grinder. Use high temperature primer and paint to paint everything. A roller or even brush will yield far nicer results than you might think if you work methodically. Don't bother with the inside of the firebox. Don't paint the grates. Reassemble everything. Might want to replace or straighten the grate in the firebox or just toss it.Easy as.Not worth your time if you have a job.
>>3002399I'd start with 60 for the rust and go up to maybe 120. It doesn't have to be food safe, the paint just goes on the outside
Spray it down with simple green, I'd maybe take a wire brush to the really rusty/crusty spots then barbecue paint
Wire brush on an angle grinder will have that thing looking 100% better in no time flat. Basically clean the fuck out of it, and then start a fire in it and let it get nice and hot to burn any funky shit off then it'll be ready to go.
>>30023993M makes good sanding products as long as you don't buy the consumer bullshit they sell at Lowes/Home Depot.
>>3002377its not charcoal retard you use hard wood like oak or hickory or whatever the smokerfags are using these days
>>3002550They're literally called charcoal grills with offset smoker box, dipshithttps://www.homedepot.com/p/Royal-Gourmet-28-in-Barrel-Charcoal-Grill-with-Offset-Smoker-in-Black-CC1830F/301952661
>>3002553you could use charcoal if ur a nigger like you, but us hwites use hardwood.
>>3002373Get a steel brush for an anglegrinder and remove the rust and old paint. Spray with heat-resistant paint.Done.
