You know how your modern vacuum cleaner, after 2 hours of work, runs out of battery and clogs up with hair so you have to do additional 2 hours of cleaning on the vacuum itself? I've been exploring the alternatives to cleaning the dust off my floor properly, and have been wondering what would be the best thing to get, so I got on 4chan to see what people think.I've watched an episode of How To with John Wilson, and heard about something called a Hoover Constellation vacuum cleaner, which practically floats and cleans very effectively. It's one of those old American products that worked much better that are now replaced by cheap Chinese shit.On the other hand, I could just get a decent broom and simply clean with that, going with the traditional approach rather than modern "efficiency" that compromises proper cleaning. I don't mind doing the manual work, I care more about the authentic, genuine quality of the work itself. So I wondered, does 4chan know of any hidden gems, secrets, or great hidden history behind cleaning dust, that may make this choice easier?

My unit says every 3 month but I don't use it 6 month out of the year.Also run an air purifier specifically to get dust out of the air. Most of the 'dust' is actually dead skin so you want it to be in the rooms you spend your time in the most. Having multiple purifiers across the house that you can easily turn on when you are going to be in a room for a while is best. Clean them and change the filters regularly.Get a robot vacuum that you can set to run on a schedule. They aren't that great, can't do corners for shit, but they are automated and it can stretch out the time you need to vacuum yourself.As for actual dusting, I use rags. Things like feather dusters just put dust in the air. The fancy dusting cloths work great, but cost a ton and just create garbage. Fuck 'em. Have a bunch of rags that are slightly damp. Wipe down everything you can with them. If you have things that can't get wet use dry rags. Toss them all in the washing machine when you are done. They last years and years and can also be used for other things.
>>3003329Fine dust needs to be cleared with damp material, similar to swifter or tile sponge. If the cloth is wet, it will leave streaks. It won't collect as well if it's dry. Anything you can pick up shouldn't be vacuumed. Bulk should probably be swept and shoveled or dust panned. Surfaces need a few different passes depending on how clean is required.

>>3003329That constellation vac looks heavy, and heavy + dirt scratches floors. Get the rubbermaid hygen or other commercial flat mop, a ten pack of mop heads for it, and just wash them with your laundry. You'll want a very dilute mild neutral soap, even just a few drops of dawn dish soap in a spray bottle of water, and mist a dry pad to sweep with or wet down the floor with the spray to clean it.
My parents have a Rainbow vacuum. The dirt container is filled with water to catch all the dust.It's so effective that the air filters are still clean after 10+ years.
