I’m in Australia so I need to mount this upside down (with the angle supports on top). But seriously, the only wall I can put this that has a high enough ceiling also has a door that opens directly into it and would hit the gussets/angle supports.

I need a bracket that either has the supports on top of not at all. Not having any luck with google, just getting bookshelf brackets and $500 heavy machinery specific brackets

Not keen to just put the brackets upside down in case the welds let go and it brains me

It goes from the weight being pushed into the wall and the welds compressing to being pulled out of the wall and the welds being pulled apart

eyeballing it the angle is say in the middle (its not) of the horizontal.
the force on the wall plate at the horizontal is user weight acting upwards.
say the angle bar is 45 degrees (its not) the load along the bar is user weight / sin 45 = user weight / 2 in compression.

anyway i cant be bothered doing any more maths but the point is that it has fucking nothing to do with the welds, the problem is the mounting hole above the horizontal bar, the torque at the top is pulling away from the wall and into the wall at the bottom regardless of orientation.
in op pic the distance between the bottom angle and the top mounting hole is large, pull out force on this fixing is reduced. mounted upside down, the distance between top hole at the wall fixing and the load point on the mounting face (angle bar) is minimised and so pull out force at this fixing is maximized.

the most simple solution is to remove the door if temporary, or rehang the hinges if permanent to open away from the bracket in stead of towards.

It won't be the welds that fail. Also the thing isn't engineered to the point where someone gave thought to the nature of stress at the welds. They just did it 'plenty good' and tested it.
Since you'll have reaction forces for every force and torque is a force the length of the lever arms will make a difference and kangaroo land mounting will put half of the bolts in a slightly more disadvantaged position as it would have been otherwise.
This difference is insignificant and if the safety margin in final product is anywhere near that difference it's unsafe to begin with. Just bolt it to the wall and it will hold two people, upside down or not.

Yes it’s a gyrock wall with 450mm gaps between studs (the bar is 1200mm wide) so I’m gonna put a hardwood backing board across 3 studs and attach it to that

I’ll look at drilling some better placed holes on the mounting plate to reduce the pull out force

I have std 2400mm ceilings and I’m normal height so I can touch it without jumping. Mounting it on a 2400 wall would be way too low. I have one small room with raked ceilings and dormer windows and an inconvenient door thats perpendicular and flush to the wall that I can’t remove or rehang. But I’ll make it work

Yes sand no. That's fine if the door opens outwards like in your pic, but if the door opens inward, the angle bracket only allows the door to open to 90 degrees.

Yes it's safe. There's a limit to weighted pullups, most guys can't even and wont ever add their own body weight.
