diy anons i present you with a small problem. im trying to use this 4mm thick, metal pipe clamp as an lnb holder for my satellite dish. the internal diameter of this clamp is 60mm, while the lnb is only 40mm, so it can't be fitted secured around the lnb.there are two methods that i thought of:one: is wrapping something around the lnb (leather or felt) to make it thicker, or two: drill into the top metal plate and use an m6 or m8 bolt and a set of nuts to press onto the lnb from the top at the risk of breaking it. maybe i could add a smoother cap nut but it would reduce friction.is there a better way?

i drilled 8mm holes into the top bracket. so now i can use a bolt and nut to tighten the lnb. here's a picture of the felt rings i made also.im still curious to cleaner alternatives or how /diy/ would do it.>>3004635why?

i had a similar situation today mounting 3/4 cpvc with 3/4 galvy 'raised' clampsi just cut some rubber toilet shims to the shape of the bracket and tightened it downworked perfect :)

Many years ago I got some great advice from my (retired rich and still gets money from selling his machine shop, which is in a highly competitive business):Don't waste valuable effort making what you can buy at trivial cost, or buy a thing closer to what you want at trivial cost. Use Google Lens or whatever to hunt the clamp you want or something very close. You will learn the highly useful skill of how to search for parts! That's more complex than it seems even with AI, and is a key reason I did so well running military and civilian tool rooms. The tool and equipment-fu has real power.
