Hey guys looking for some guidance. I've had this vintage UC Berkeley leather and wool varsity jacket for a long time but it needs a bit of care.
Mainly the leather on both cuffs is frayed at the ends which is annoying on my wrists, and the elasticated cuffs are kind of frayed and done.
Also as a bonus, the synthetic lining is pretty old and stained and a bit torn, and I've always liked the idea of replacing it with like silk, cotton or cupro.
Is this stuff just way out of the wheelhouse of someone that hasn't really done any fabric work beyond hemming pants? My girlfriend has lots of sewing stuff and a basic machine but I've never done anything advanced myself. Guessing I'd just put like soft leather patches over the cuff holes and then try to find custom cuff fabric for replacement. But guessing this might be kind of advanced due to leather stitching etc

Get a shitty Chinese made jacket from Goodwill that is similar. Rebuild it. When you fuck that up you will learn something. Rebuild it again. Keep doing that until you stop learning. Then you will be ready for your vintage jacket.
