Is it possible to build something like this with just $100k?
>>3005525sure if you dont mind the occasional tornado
>>3005525Absolutely!Step one, buy land no one fucking wants.Step two, wonder why your nearest neighbor is 7 miles away and you smell meth every time the wind blows in such a way that you are down wind.Step three, marry or be a paramedic, because if you ever hurt yourself, you'll want someone who can keep you alive long enough to travel 65 miles over bad roads to the nearest hospital.Step four, realize that you will have zero services. No power, water, sewer, natural gas, not even Amazon will deliver to you.Step five, plan for every time you needing something requires a trip into town. That will be a weekly, maybe monthly event.
>>3005543Even then, maybe if you buy an existing house in such a situation. But if you have to build one the materials and more importantly the delivery of said materials and of the equipment you need to build will cost over 100k. Also this is a stupid question so put it in the general next time.>herbs in the options
>>3005543>step onemigrate to >>>/out/OP will feel right at home
>>3005525You can buy the land and build the chicken coop, get the terrain cleaned, maybe also the pigsty if you are good at /diy/.
>>3005543>Step one, buy land no one fucking wants.is there really such a thing?>Step two, wonder why your nearest neighbor is 7 miles away and you smell meth every time the wind blows in such a way that you are down wind.Good I hate people>Step three, marry or be a paramedic, because if you ever hurt yourself, you'll want someone who can keep you alive long enough to travel 65 miles over bad roads to the nearest hospital.I don't go to the doctor or hospital as it is and am ok with dying when the times comes.>Step four, realize that you will have zero services. No power, water, sewer, natural gas, not even Amazon will deliver to you.well for water, outhouse, Starlink for internet, solar panels, propane tank>Step five, plan for every time you needing something requires a trip into town. That will be a weekly, maybe monthly event.Driving an hour or two to CostCo once or twice a month isn't that bad
>>3005543honestly doesnt sound that bad
>>3005677Yeah. It is called the Oklahoma panhandle. Oh, and that bit in Africa https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bir_Tawil>Good I hate peopleIt is an interesting thing. I've lived in the boons and I've lived stacked like wood. Both suck. I now live in a nice smaller city, on a 1/4th acre lot and it is fucking perfect. I have good windows so I almost never have any noise, I don't lock my doors, everyone knows the names of everyone else's dogs, there's a school in walking distance (no pedophiles!), grocery stores too, services, etc. 'People' suck but good people are great.>I don't go to the doctor or hospital as it is and am ok with dying when the times comes.I've told the story here before so someone might remember but, when I was a younger man my brother and I tried to replace the sheet metal roof on a monitor barn. The nails holding the roof to the joists failed and their heads sheared off. We slid off like riding a surfboard and he got super fucked up in the fall. He landed on metal scraps and I landed on him. He was poked full of holes, had a rack of broken ribs, and was bleeding all over. Of course, the rest of the family was in town in the only vehicles that could go more than 25 miles per hour so Wonder Dust and duct tape held him together until we could get him checked out. If he had broken his back or punctured a lung that would have been fucking it but it would have taken a long, long time to die and it would have hurt the whole time. On a full working farm? Fuck son. I've had neighbors die because a fucking pig decided it didn't like the look you gave it that day and they just couldn't stop the bleeding. Bleeding out in the passenger seat of a F-150 as your wife is driving it 200 miles to the nearest anything ain't a way I want to go.>Driving an hour or two to CostCo once or twice a month isn't that badAh, see that is the thing. If a CostCo is only two hours away you are not in the boons. Try it when the nearest paved road is 2 hours a way.
>>3005525Not even with an Amish community behind you.
>>3005704>Ah, see that is the thing. If a CostCo is only two hours away you are not in the boons. Try it when the nearest paved road is 2 hours a way.I see a bunch on that map in the midwest and north where you are in bumfuck nowhere in less than an hour
>>3005910> in less than an hourOn what, a jet? The whole deal with being in bumfuck nowhere is that there is NOTHING anywhere near you. It is REMOTE. If you are an hour from somewhere you aren't in bumfuck nowhere. That's 75 miles at highway speeds. That isn't even far enough to get out of the light pollution of a decent sized city. 75 fucking miles. I know people that commute to work a longer distance than that.
