I guess mash or whatever too. Looking for recommendations about how to homebrew some darts. Machines, filters/wrappers, and brands of tobbaco appreciated. How to maintain them, and store tobacco. I enjoy smoking, not paying this bullshit for a pack of smokes. Tips on growing your own and drying it out?
It requires a long growing season and high soil temperature. Start seeds indoors in February or early March if you don't live in Southern latitude with long seasons.rustica has high nicotine but is harsh and not the nest flavor. Virginia gold and burly are your key to smooth and flavor, but lack the nicotine most seek. grow all 3 and blend. keep your rustica under 10% or it will burn your throat, taste like shit and make your head swim.too much sun or high heat and drought will scorch it. you can see that evidenced in the tallest one I am standing by. leaves curled and it stunted growth. once harvested it must be dried for at least 2-3 weeks. you want around 25-30% moisture. then, you remove it and bag it tightly. purge the air & "ferment" it for at least 2 years. this mellows it. improper fermentation & curing will leave a harsh smoke. once it has aged you shred and treat according to intended use. most chewing tobacco benifits from significant addition of apple juice, cooked down to thicken, then stirred in. other flavors can be added to taste: brown sugar, maple, beech, clove, cinnamon, vanilla, mint, menthol, rum, brandy, whiskey, sherry, etc.shade grown tobacco is mellower. grow WAY more than you think you need or want. it will take minimum 3 years to get a usable product, probably longer if you want it to have any chance of quality. keep growing each year. your skill improves, product improves and when you finally get to test it year 3, you have successive batches maturing and testing each year thereafter.
>>3005683Is nicotine poisoning from handling wet lwaves real?
>>3005678I used to be dried tobacco leaves, blond and burley type, shred the shit in a grinder myself and smoke my rollies with it.Did this for like half a year before I stopped because you cannot do habitual smoking with actually unprocessed leaves. It burns too much and will fry your tongue. Heed my word anon, its not worth investing multiple hundreds in that if at the end you'll find that the smooth taste of marlboro is unbeatable. On a side note if anyone knows how to cure a persistant (multiple years long) oral thrush likely due to smoking im all ears
>>3005707not on a hobby scale.if you (or your horde of 12 year old slave labor) are tending, picking & processing 1000 acres of tobacco on a daily/weekly/yearly basis... yes, you can get sick from exposure. growing, tending & processing 10 to 100 plants over 8 months of growing and a few weeks of processing? NO, not a chance.watch for tomato worms. they are your plague. blister beetles will eat ANYTHING, so they would probably be an issue if you have them in your area.nitrogen hogs: mulch with compost. best to turn well finished compost into the soil prior to planting. if you can't or don't want to compost, find someone who raises rabbits. rabbit shit is cold fertilizer and does not need composing. you can take it straight from the rabbit and put on/in your garden soil.
>>3005683>>3005710Thanks for the info anons, looks like I'll be buying processed stuff. I've heard D&R was good, but they have a bunch of different options. Did you hand roll or use a machine?
>>3005775Hand roll, get good at it and itll become second nature, could nearly do it while drunk and in the dark at that point. Still havent found a cheap way to obtain smokes though. I was thinking mixing my bought tobacco with 30% organic cultivated stuff like what you're asking about so I can at least cut costs partly, but then I realized Id be willing to invedt way too much energy into this and it felt like bullshit. On the other hand I'm turning 30 this year and I'm gonna get clean before that, see what its like to kick the habit for a full year. id love to smoke forever but my cardiovascular health is suffering from it, oral health conpromised, and have this persistent fuckass oral thrush that I cultivate with the smoking habit. Nearly 15 years after picking up smoking I am drawing closer to the conclusion that smoking's only good if its somewhat behind you. Ex smokers and smokers alike are my kind of folks, they're usually more fun and at least somewhat aware of some of life's painful realities.
smoking is for retarded people
