I was cleaning the carburetor to a Yamaha outboard and while I was trying to unscrew the bull screws I pressed down on my workbench and I snapped off the air mixture screw that was protruding out of the top of the carburetor. It is extremely small and recessed in. What do I do? Anyone have any good ideas for how I can get this out. Notice the tip of a small harbor freight pick for size reference.

Rotary tool. Engraving bit. Steady hands. Carve a slot in it and back it out with a flat blade screwdriver.

So picking and prodding at it with the tip of the pic it seems somewhat loose in there so I am a little bit optimistic that I might be able to get it out.

Even my smallest tiniest pair of needle nose pliers is way too thick to get around the stub.

I am just now 3D printing a tube that I can try and heat up and stick around the stub and let dry and see if maybe that will give me enough friction to slowly back it out until I can get pliers on it.

I used the very sharp tips of two tiny little push pins to push an opposing directions by pushing it into the top of the brass and trying to spin the screw out.

Very slowly and with a couple sharp bits of force at the beginning I got it moving and I was able to slowly force it out maybe an eighth of a turn at a time.

I thought I just crossed myself $500 to $1,000 for a new carburetor I'm very happy I was able to resolve this.

And now both are clean
But I will have to order a replacement air mix screw.
I was reading on the forums that apparently this generation of air mix crew is very delicate with the hand tightening end so I can order an older style air mixed screw that uses a flathead screwdriver and it will be much more robust and less likely to break when handling the carburetor in the future. So I will order a couple of these older style air mix screws with the flathead screwdriver heads to put into this motor and hopefully avoid this in the future.
