How bad of an idea are these? I think I could complete it for $150-$300 depending how much a second mower costs. Mowing my property currently takes over an hour, and a ride on isn't currently an option.

>a ride on isn't currently an option
why?
>>
>>3006844
Seems legit. Make sure to take plenty of pictures and post them here.
>>
youll be twice as whipped after fighting that abortion for a half hr than just mowing it regular
plus why would you spend $300 when push mowers are had for free and only need a new $9 chink carb
and wtf is that human centipede design that chokes 1 mower with the clippings from the other
>>
>>3006845
Cost

>>3006847
Of course

>>3006850
Mowing doesn't tire me. $300 is worst case scenario, I'm ideally trying to find the same mower I already have, or two identical mowers for sale, so it's not full crackhead spec. No idea about the clippings, I never use a catcher and don't plan on copying that design.

But it's the solution.

It's a joke. A meme. A jest. A jape.

Now go make it and post a YT of how useless it is.

>Mowing my property currently takes over an hour
So, 2 questions:

Is it that tiny or is it just a boring, flat featureless plain that it only takes about an hour?

Secondly, are you so fat that walking around for an hour is to much?

I ask because I have 1/3 acre lot that takes 2-3 hours to mow. Because it's on a hill and there's a lot of l flower beds, trees, shrubs, etc to mow around.

You can get a good used ride-on for less than it would cost to build this contraption. 48" deck riding mowers go for ~$250-$400 on FBM around here.

The only ride ons that come in under $1k here are half disassembled projects that people have let rot before selling.

I'm on 1/4 acre. We're coming out of winter, so everything is growing like crazy, I need to mow weekly. If you could cut a chore in half, I'm sure you would.

Plus, it's not that I can't afford a ride on, I just think this would be a cool project.
>>
>>3006844
If you can mow it with a push mower in an hour, most robot mowers can presumably also cover the area. It's $500-800 for never having to mow lawn again, vs. retardcode double mower for $300, vs. the $2000+ for the ride on boomer.

>you can't get a ride-on for $300
Broken ones are more like $100. I bought my craftsman 48" with a Kohler 20hp for $250 and its been a great mower for the last 5 years. It's completely reasonable, as long as you're not a schmuck and can make an accurate assessment of what you're buying.
>$1000
Maybe a zero turn. Or if you live in Southern CA.

You know they make actual wide mowers right?
>>
>>3006880
I paid $400 for my last one this way. It just needed a new battery, new tires for the rear wheels, and a quick sharpening job on the blades.
You just have to bring a jump pack and a trailer and test it before you pay in cash.

Man, it must suck to be European.

I mow a half acre with a 21" push mower. I thought I could get away with going cheap since my last couple cheap mowers lasted forever. My Yardmax mower is a cheap piece of shit. Fortunately I've been able to have them replace parts under warranty but this thing has no longevity. I'm going to sell it in the Spring before it completely falls apart and get a Toro.
>>
>>3006844
The blades will hit, anon, and the left one will not clear grass.

Only way to make a contraption like this work is for one mower to be slightly forward or behind (as most decks on riders are set up) and for the one on the left to shoot out the back via cutting a hole in the mulching box. Or attaching a bag. Whatever.
>>
>>3006844
yes,
Get something like small (30 - 40 inch) walk behind.
>>
>>3006946
Around the same here for a Craftsman YS4500, didn't have to but I also changed the spindles & both belts overtime as a bonus since it was a matter of time overtime as a bonus. Everything ended up being just roughly $450, skipped the new battery and just use a $20 charger whenever it's in my shed. It works for now.
>>
>>3006844
Deck mowers are free, the problem is the blade overlap is not there and you'll just cut mohawks which will the same number of passes to fix as having a single deck.
>>
>>3009302
What if you space them with a blade length in between them? You wouldn't turn at the end of each pass, you'd shift over to the lane in between and cut "in reverse." I can't imagine it giving an inferior cut if you have contra-rotating blades on the mowers like Honda's.

I'll easily concede this is a lot of work to solve a problem that's better solved with a larger deck.
>>
Op here
This came up for sale locally. The description is very vague, and outside of "rover rancher" I can't see any model to google if it's actually an easy fix, or if they're selling junk.
>>
>>
>>
>>3009378
Looks like it uses a gear trans instead of a hydrostat, depending on what fuckery has been wrought, you could be looking at real money to fix it.
That being said I've seen some where the trans housing exploded, and was "returned to service" via loads of bailing wire and hose clamps.
>>
>>3006897
NTA but buddy, I live on a farm and mowing the lawn is a day long task and it too needs to be done once a week or so thro9ugh spring/summer
You've made it clear that you're lazy and out of shape, figure it out.

He's giving you $400 to haul this ancient piece of shit to the scrapyard, right?

The "blocked transmission" isn't giving me the warm fuzzies on that one...
