911 I put potato peels down my garbage disposal
Now it's clogged past the trap

How do I fix this anons
>>
Plug up the drain on one side, fill the other basin with warm water and dawn and plunge it
>>
snake, the potato peels turned into starchy mush
garbage disposals are worthless slop
>>

Use lye because I don't.
>>
Update, snaking and plunging did not work

Help me PLEAAAASE
>>
>>3007191
>plunging did not work
you didn't close the other drain before plunging
>>
Just nuke that sumbitch with lye, it'll dissolve everything
>>
Update: after extensive plunging and snaking, I finally got it. That would have sucked to need a plumber on a holiday weekend.

why is it so hard to put solid food waste into the trash can? i will never understand the amerimutts
>>
>>3007219
To be fair they sell garbage disposals and claim they can basically crush anything to go down your drain pipe as long as it's not greasy.

But really the solution here is just a little guard to catch all the floating bits of food. Only thing that should be ideally going down drain pipes is dirty water with no solids.

>he refuses to feed the sewer crocs
rude, tbqh

I've long rallied against garbage disposals. They leak, they stink, they clog, and give people a false idea of their capabilities. I convinced one of my coworkers to rip his out after fixing a clog.

get rid of the garbage disposal. all they do is clog. food is not meant to go down the drain.

Plumber here
Step 1, don't fucking do that
Step 2, you see that bend at the bottom of the cabinet? The ribbed circular piece is a hand-tightened nut. It's the P-trap that keeps sewer gas from seeping out of your sink drain and the spot most easy to clog.
Step 3, unscrew the nut. It's upside down so lefty tighty, rightly loosey.
Step 4, unscrew the nut on the otherside of the P-trap where it's heading into the wall.
Step 5, CAREFULLY REMOVE THE P-TRAP, it's full of water that's had sitting and decaying organic matter. It's gonna be foul. Don't get any on you and dump it outside. If there's likely more shit in the pipes from the sink to the P-trap, have a bucket ready to catch you. ALSO do not just pour it down the skin drain like a fucking retard.
Step 6, clean out the P-trap with towels, a hose, or your hands.
Step 7, Replace the P-trap and screw the nuts back in tightly
Step 8, Pour water down the drain to refill the P-trap and keep sewer gas out
Step 9, stop dumping weird shit down the drain you fucking imbecile.
Side-note, if anything important and heavy gets dropped down the sink drain, with enough water it will eventually end up in the p-trap and be easily retrieved.

>garbage disposals are worthless slop
they really are unless you run a large commercial kitchen with low iq staff (unavoidable)
people call me to replace them because after 8 years they just start leaking from frame and are like, "I don't even use it!"
>well what If I rebuilt your drains to eliminate a disposal altogether and remove this point of failure? I'll do it for $100 less than the disposal replacement
"no, <insert nonsense>"
alright whatever
>>3007197
>That would have sucked to need a plumber on a holiday weekend.
>that'll be 325$ to show up and give an estimate
but congrats
>>3007219
it's wild, i got a call once where a like 55 year old lady was cleaning out her fridge and dumped a tub of pulled pork in it. obviously cloggedthe tubular immediately after disposal
"you know if you can physically remove it from a container, it should go to the trash"
>nobody has ever told me that and i don't believe you
"ok that'll be $500"
