>>3007260The common Victor outfits you mentioned are excellent and the soft parts of their regulators are compatible with both fuel gases. (I collect and rebuild OA gear per factory manuals because torches are like firearms, having subtle but important ergonomic differences.)Victor LP and acetylene regulators differ by output pressure gauge and diaphragm spring so if one buys the acetylene regulator they can use it with a BBQ or other LP jug which has the same internal CGA-510 valve threads. R-rated hoses survive fine but T-rated hoses are technically correct for LP. I only buy used Victor gear (it's repairable in the field for eternity and I prefer the classic SR regulator series) so when I replace old hose I buy T which is a bit less likely to dry out like an old tire sidewall. Uniweld make equal quality Victor style torches (they specialize in making compatible and mixed-feature gas equipment as original patents are LONG expired).
Any tips for passing a weld test for a job? I'm having trouble controlling my heat input on thin gague plate doing t-joints. They dial the amps above 120 and tell me to keep it there, but I can't seem to control the pedal well enough to not burn through the piece.
>>3007492what process?how thin is thin?
>>3007346>noooooooo you cant weld rebar haha 120v 6010 tie wire go brrrrr
>>3008511Lol. Based.
Anyone have experience with Fronius welding machines? I have very recently been placed in charge of the welding sector of a large shop that exclusively uses them for all automated welding processes (TPS 2700 and 320i models specifically). I want to hear anything and everything from anons that have used them i.e. complaints, compliments, common quirks, etc. I feel like I'm constantly fixing one thing or another with them, although that could definitely be due to operator retardation. We have a day shift and a swing shift so I'm not there 24/7 to ensure that people aren't fucking shit up while I'm not looking; it's hard to tell if certain issues are inherent to the design of the 320s or the age of the 2700s.
>>3008765The primary failure that I've come across is the coolant pump failing and most of the time its due to not filling it up regularly. Someone can run the machine dry one day and then realize they've run it dry and top it off and then the next guy comes in and notices the torch is hot and not realize its because the pump isn't working and add more coolant. Then a third guy shows up and the torch handle starts leaking and you send it in for repairs and the mechanic has to fix a broken torch and a machine. If you add some coolant to every machine once a month it should fix all those problems. If you're worried about losing time, the machine are typically designed so you can just open up a spout at the back and pout coolant in while the machine is still running. Also Fronius coolant is literally just water and ethanol, aka vodka..
>>3008770This is extremely helpful, thank you. I've had to go around to multiple machines because they randomly stop mid-weld because of a "No H20" error despite the res being full (I topped off every machine as soon as I took over). Power-cycling fixes it for the day and I cleared all the lines so that tells me that prior to starting this shit they were probably running dry for awhile and the pumps are on borrowed time.
>>3008771Yeah probably coolant refill issue.Don't rely on the operators to top them off, they'll always be too focused on the welding job to think about the machine and since you're working shifts it spreads out the blame since everyone can always blame the other shifts. Paying someone a little bit extra to spend every first monday of the month refilling the machines and get into arguments with the welders will probably save you a huge amount of time and money. Narrows down the list of suspects a lot if you keep having the issue.
How popular is it in the United States?
>>3009681i have 3 rogues and 3 firepower branded machines plus 2 old thermal arc inverters that i guess count plus a tweco branded lorch thats now sold as a warrior 300im pretty happy with most except the lorch because of its faggy ass safety features and it was all far cheaper than big blue although my old xmt gets more hours than all the rest combined i have a love/hate relationship with esab wire. their dual shield runs beautifully right out of the box smoother than lincoln or triple7 but picks up moisture and worm tracks in a day sitting in the feeder if the humidity is even slightly up
I scored a couple 6-ax robots with controllers at auction. Anyone know the most /diy/ way to get them to become tig welding robots? All I want to do is weld around circular objects like pipes and flanges
>>3009720https://www.youtube.com/@Swarvar/videosno robot needed
>>3009720can i have one
Rate my weld. It was my first time. Nobody ever taught me. It failed on the first load (1 ton)

Any of you shop faggots have any advice on how to dial in mig? All I have ever really done is stick with the occasional fucking around with innersheild whenever I get the chance. Im an actual man who works in the field, not the gay fabshop.
I made this at work out of 2 inch flat bar a bit ago when I was bored.
I have a weld test later. Ill need to do a vertical fillet with a root and cap.Send help.
>>3010766Just don't forget to give your coupon plenty of time to cool off. Last thing you want is for it to warp or crack.
How do I make good jigs? I'm new to this and just sold my first item I made. It's really difficult welding it up though, I'd say half the time is spent aligning the pieces together and tacking so is there a secret to fabbing a good jig?maybe I should just stop being a fucking chud and use my milling machine I got at an auction to drill perfectly spaced holes then make a mini fixture table.
>>3011166Depends on exactly what you are making the jig for. If it's something you plan on cranking out 100's or 1000's of then a dedicated jig for that one item is the way to go.
>>3011192Yeah, I want to crank out 100's of these things, making them is real simple too but hopefully a jig will make my 2 hours of welding and struggling to get shit aligned turn into 3 minutes on the welder and 3 minutes prepping them up.Think I'm going to straight up weld C-clamps to a plate and ghetto rig the shit out of this thing.
>>3011221de sta co clampsbetter to have pads to create the support plane with openings for corners and weld points to keep shit from getting under that throwing position offthats all the free design info im gonna give
>>3011227Oh I have these too, thanks I'll dig them up and get to working on a fixture.
>>3007502Using a petal sounds like TIGyou might wanna try clamping a few brass bars to your work as a heat sink, also dont be such a lead foot
>>3011315How hard is tig? I have only ever done stick and a little mig. Is it just pushing puddles around, just like everything else?
>>3011318The best way to l;earn TIG is to learn gas welding first its a similar process, you have a rod in one hand and a gas or TIG torch in the other, your moving the puddle with one hand and dipping the rod in with the other. Its easier to understand when you see it done.
>>3011320So it's basically brazing. That doesn't seem too difficult once you get a feel for speed and temperature. What does the pedal do?
>>3011322The TIG peddle adjust the amps/heatYou set your welder first and and with the peddle you can fine tune your amps, sometimes the peddles can be a bit touchy
