The common Victor outfits you mentioned are excellent and the soft parts of their regulators are compatible with both fuel gases. (I collect and rebuild OA gear per factory manuals because torches are like firearms, having subtle but important ergonomic differences.)

Victor LP and acetylene regulators differ by output pressure gauge and diaphragm spring so if one buys the acetylene regulator they can use it with a BBQ or other LP jug which has the same internal CGA-510 valve threads.

R-rated hoses survive fine but T-rated hoses are technically correct for LP. I only buy used Victor gear (it's repairable in the field for eternity and I prefer the classic SR regulator series) so when I replace old hose I buy T which is a bit less likely to dry out like an old tire sidewall.

Uniweld make equal quality Victor style torches (they specialize in making compatible and mixed-feature gas equipment as original patents are LONG expired).

Any tips for passing a weld test for a job? I'm having trouble controlling my heat input on thin gague plate doing t-joints. They dial the amps above 120 and tell me to keep it there, but I can't seem to control the pedal well enough to not burn through the piece.

Anyone have experience with Fronius welding machines? I have very recently been placed in charge of the welding sector of a large shop that exclusively uses them for all automated welding processes (TPS 2700 and 320i models specifically). I want to hear anything and everything from anons that have used them i.e. complaints, compliments, common quirks, etc. I feel like I'm constantly fixing one thing or another with them, although that could definitely be due to operator retardation. We have a day shift and a swing shift so I'm not there 24/7 to ensure that people aren't fucking shit up while I'm not looking; it's hard to tell if certain issues are inherent to the design of the 320s or the age of the 2700s.

The primary failure that I've come across is the coolant pump failing and most of the time its due to not filling it up regularly. Someone can run the machine dry one day and then realize they've run it dry and top it off and then the next guy comes in and notices the torch is hot and not realize its because the pump isn't working and add more coolant. Then a third guy shows up and the torch handle starts leaking and you send it in for repairs and the mechanic has to fix a broken torch and a machine.

If you add some coolant to every machine once a month it should fix all those problems. If you're worried about losing time, the machine are typically designed so you can just open up a spout at the back and pout coolant in while the machine is still running. Also Fronius coolant is literally just water and ethanol, aka vodka..

This is extremely helpful, thank you. I've had to go around to multiple machines because they randomly stop mid-weld because of a "No H20" error despite the res being full (I topped off every machine as soon as I took over). Power-cycling fixes it for the day and I cleared all the lines so that tells me that prior to starting this shit they were probably running dry for awhile and the pumps are on borrowed time.

Yeah probably coolant refill issue.

Don't rely on the operators to top them off, they'll always be too focused on the welding job to think about the machine and since you're working shifts it spreads out the blame since everyone can always blame the other shifts. Paying someone a little bit extra to spend every first monday of the month refilling the machines and get into arguments with the welders will probably save you a huge amount of time and money. Narrows down the list of suspects a lot if you keep having the issue.
