At this point? If it hasn't blown, it probably won't. Are you on well water? Most of what I heard was that polybutylene was attacked by the chlorine in municipal water, specifically in the elbows where the material was stressed from being formed. Without chlorine it should be fine.

My pex is wirsbo, and it’s coming up to 30 years.
I just recently re-used some of it and it expanded and re-shrank down over the fittings just fine.
Some of it turned a bit yellow—especially by the hot water tank—but seems to be fine other than that seemingly cosmetic issue.

Is this a New England thing? Most homes old enough to need a re-pipe are probably single story. Where are people running your pipes? One of the major reasons basements, crawlspaces, and attics exist is for running all the utilities. When we pulled out the failing galvanized pipes in our place the only drywall we had to remove was around shutoff valves under sinks/behind toilets and behind the top/shower combos. The former had to go anyway to get the original valves out. Only the latter was needed to really get access to things. We ran everything else from the crawlspace. Not fun, but much simpler then channeling through drywall and studs to run pipe horizontally.

Even if it is a 'finished basement', you can notch joists on the bottom, as long as it is not in the middle third or too close to the supported ends. The code is very clear on what you can and can't do and it was written for low functioning alcoholics with a third grade education. Our job passed inspection first time.

They didn't get rid of polybutylene for health reasons. They got rid of it because it disintegrates when exposed to the chemicals used to disinfect water in municipal water treatment systems. In fact, it is still used in many applications, just not in building supply lines in the USA.

Our local water treatment uses filters. They bought them 14 years ago. They are rated for 10 years. They keep using them because the water keeps passing quality tests. The red caps out here really don't want to spend a fucking dime on anything until it breaks. Preventive maintenance is for suckers. Keep rolling until you hurt someone or you gotta spend a lot of money fixing it.

How do we know? They did the same thing with the last set of filters. No idea how long they lasted but 3 of the filters failed in the span of a few hours and dumped filter material down the line. It clogged a bunch of valves downstream, which took them a day to bypass and days more to fix.
