Would moving into a trailer park, maybe into a 3 bed trailer and putting up a wall around the living area to create a 4th bedroom, be a viable way to escape the insane costs of home ownership? I'm even looking at trailer parks and planning to find the right balance of trashiness of the current tenants there - trashy enough to keep the lot rents down but not so much that I'd feel unsafe living there.
>Trailer park>OwnershiplmaoYou're a slave to the lot owner and you pray they never sell.
>>3009272They're called single wide and double wide. Land, septic, well and a mobile home is a good solution. Trailer park not so much. Why tf do you think you need 4bdrm?
>>3009274Im guessing to rent out>>3009272Even in piss poor nothing if you live in the US I can almost promise that turning your living room into a bedroom is a code violation.
>>3009284You're an idiot if you think code prevents people from putting a bed in the living room or even sub dividing shit however they want. What the law prevents is calling it a room on a real estate listing, it being that way or you sleeping in it is not illegal.
>>3009272No, it's a money pit and bad investment. Doubt you could even get a home equity line of credit. It's about as bad of an investment as a car. Especially with your energy bills.
>>3009304Interesting about the code violation. The legality of it is besides the point if an insurance adjuster won't cover a fire or if someone gets hurt on your property and sues. You'd be out of money but I don't know if it would be criminal like say if you were to have an illegal porch and someone falls and gets injured.
>>3009272Private equity is buying trailer parks and raising lot rents anywhere from 75% to 150%, sometimes even more.
>>3009272You can't raise a normal family in a trailer park.
