What happened here and why is the gas cylinder stuck. Shit is a wobbly mess, anything I can do? Ignore the bits of string I stuck in there, I was trying something.
>>3009476Hard to tell exactly what i'm looking at here, but is the cylinder threaded into that bung, and the bung broke loose from the seat frame?
>>3009476it broke the weld fatassfind another chair>>>/diy/sqtddtot
>>3009476Looks like the weld holding the seat to the cylinder failed. Cheap shit chair. Don't get something made of mild steel put together in China. If it is something you use a lot, well, spend your money where you spend you time. Get a real office chair. Something like a Steelcase Series 1 would be the bare minimum for an office type chair. We're talking 2-4 hours a day of use. If you are spending more time than that in it then you need to start looking for chairs in the $800+ range.Ignore 'gaming' chairs. They are overpriced trash. I fell for the meme and got a Secret Labs Titan. The chair started falling apart right after the warranty expired. The arms literally fell off from failed welds. 3 years is shit for a chair. My previous chair lasted close to 15. Sadly, the company that made it closed their US factory and moved everything overseas. The quality went with it so I can't recommend them now.
>>3009478Here's a closer angle before I put string in it.
>>3009481Yes, the weld failed. As has been stated. Don't buy shitty chairs. As has also been stated.
>>3009481Re-weld it. Shrimple as.
Tried something but I feel like I might still need to find a welder.
>>3009484ah, the bondage chair tie it into submission until it fix itself
>>3009484can't you just buy another chair mechanism and attach it to the seat and back? i've had to put mine together when i bought it, and literally every part is replaceable.
If you know anyone who works in an office, get them to snag you a chair. We always had chairs to give away
>>3009476Chairs aren't real.
>>3009476had that happen to my old chair, took the mechanism and cylinder to work, used a grinder to remove paint, cut some 7 gauge steel triangles, welded 6 or 7 or them around the ring. never had another problem with the chair until the cushion was so far gone that i threw it away
>>3009476But the more important question is: what is your new diet plan now as a preventive measure?
>>3009481Yeah shit's fucked mate. Learn how to weld or buy a replacement chair base. You'll need to find one that matches the diameter of the piston and the bolt pattern on the seat bottom. Note that the replacement part will be the same cheap chinesium with garbage welds as the old one so it won't last a long time either.
