How's your prepping coming along? Do you feel satisfied with your current level of preparedness?

Don't forget to share your personal tips and tricks with your /diy/ bros
>>
I have tons of guns and ammo, and a wire rack shelf full of canned goods, beans and rice.
>>
>>3009565
how about water fren?
>>
the #1 thing you should focus on is location before prepping, prepping does you no good if you live in an apartment or even a suburb, those are the first places that will burn, if you don't have at minimum an RV in some isolated woods then it won't matter how much food and ammo you have stocked.
>>
>>3009581
currently in an apartment, but looking at properties, how far you think is safe anon?
>>
>>3009582
its a hard balance because you have to be able to reach quickly it in an emergency but if it's too close to a populated area then it gets flooded with refugees, really depends on where you live

I keep a motorcycle that I have specifically so I can bug out on it if needed, at least that way I can get around traffic jams and blocked roads
>>
>>3009585
interesting, yeah im kinda in midwest land so really not that hard to be out from any major city tbqh desu. Biggest issue with an apartment for me is space and lack of being able to do stuff like set up backup power. Got some radios, some guns and an adequate amount of ammo, but I think as soon as I get a place I own it'll get easier
>>
>>3009587
yeah apartments will not be good, look at what happened in that "government free" zone in California during covid, there were groups of armed thugs collecting protection money from people in apartments.
>>
Any recs for a portable power station + a solar panel? Not so much to survive the apocalypse but to have some power during an outage of a few days. Maybe I could use it day to day to charge small devices like the phone and stuff so it's not just gathering dust rotting away

What should I look for/avoid?
>>
>>3009576
I've got two ponds
>>
>>3009550
I need to stock up on 5.56, I think I only have lime 120rds left, I need another case soon. Other than that, I'm about as good as I'm gonna get given my location. I have plenty of medical and sanitation, rain barrels for water, as well as a few filtration/sanitization methods, and 30lbs of rice, flour, beans, salt, sugar, and oats (the last one is only half serious, I just buy staple foods in bulk and keep an active pantry).
My only fear is I live in a relatively urban area, but there's nothing I can do about that in the immediate future, so I'm just gonna do the best with my situation, and hopefully move so.ewhere more rural relatively soon.

While a pallet would definitely be overkill, I would like more than 120rds. I still like to shoot as a fun hobby and like to keep about 2k rounds of 5.56, 9mm, and 12ga on hand.

I guess we could always go urban, rent in the concrete jungle, shop at mega-mart and pay $400/mo electric bills if thats healthier.

>>3009646

the rabbits are an income stream. (meat, show and pet sales) wife makes $300-$1200/mo on them depending on breed, pedigree & purpose. they sell for $50-$150 each. its hard for me to grasp that pricing, and I'm on the inside. "~50 rabbits" is a wandering number that covers breeders, butchers and grow-outs that get sold and/or eaten. similar with the poultry. springtime is a boom in quail & duck sales.

wife makes 10 times the income on her rabbits and poultry compared to what we make on the sheep that breed and birth once yearly.

any over the counter medicine worth stocking up on? I don't think I ever taken a pill in my adult life im out of the loop
>>
>>3009853
aspirin
omeprazole
bismuth
mucinex (not looking up chemical spelling)
diphenhydramine
pseudophedrine
calcium carbonate
>>
>>3009853
You've never taken a pill as an adult? Why? As to answer your question:
>Acetaminophen
>Naproxen
>Ibuprofen
>>
>>3009854
>>3009925
What's the use for those?

>You've never taken a pill as an adult? Why?
Im not antipharma or anything, I just never been sick to the point I feel like I need meds to help out. At most I get like a runny nose or a day of fever some winters.
>>
>>3009550
You should rotate your food after it's stocked and rotate and use the things on a daily or regular basis in your stock. Think of it as keeping a warehouse and use the things in it as part of the lifestyle. My dad bought a bunch of prepper shit like 12 years ago and everything is dilapidated and expired.
>>
>>3009954
The three I posted are for pain. Tylenol, Aleve, Advil, respectively. I'm just surprised you've never taken a SINGLE pill in your entire adult life, that's all. Never had a headache, sore muscles after a hard day, tripped and fell? Anyway, I'm not a prepper, but it'd be a good idea to have something OTC for pain. Probably some aspirin too for emergencies, although it might be moot in a SHTF situation. Definitely an anti-diarrheal to prevent dehydration (Immodium), antihistamine for any allergies (Benadryl, Zyrtec), and something to soothe the stomach (Pepto Bismol, Tums).
>>
>>3009957
Forgot to add: something for toothache. Orajel (numbing gel) and/or a small bottle of oil of clove. And Q-tips aplenty if you scratch/clean your ears as much as I do (and to apply the clove oil, etc).
>>

>And Q-tips aplenty if you scratch/clean your ears as much as I do
Ear spoon. Buy two, they last a lifetime. That way archeologists can dig it out of your pit toilet 2,000 years from now but you will still have one.

Lol. Lmao, even.

Jokes aside I prep so that I always have food even during economic troubles, and just in case a natural disaster cuts my power for a while. Being a really hardcore prepper who stockpiles ammo and jerks off thinking about shooting my neighbors when the nulcear zombie apocalypse comes doesn't really appeal to me.
>>

I used to take that stuff till I was warned about the dangers. Also as you get older your pain tolerance builds, so does your tolerance to any medication. I just avoid it.

Distill it. Microorganisms can't grow in distilled water, with the exception of a few extremophiles that you would never encounter in a domestic setting.

miss harvesting, fuel scarcity, civil unrest, hyperinflation.

in all 4 events its good to have food at home.
it also good when your country is food importer.

I stopped prepping when I realized I'm too suicidal to care if I live during a major disaster. Best I got now is a full freezer, a shelf of pantry goods and some Bluetti power stations in case the power goes out.
>>
A local church posted pics of a full 'blessing box' out front of their building. I got down there in like 12 minutes and the only thing left was a bunch of goddamned peas and a jar of cheap ass peanut butter

I have a question, oh preppers.
I have a large satchel going unused, and I want to pack a go-bag. Not a "the nukes dropped" bag but a "you have to go look after your mom right now" type thing. Small family emergency preparation.
What should I put in it?
My thoughts:
* Change of clothes
* Bottle of water (will change out yearly) and maybe granola bar or similar
* Big scarf (can be used as hand towel, for warmth, etc.)
* Pack of tissues
* Notepad and pen? Probably write down some emergency info too.
I might have to take it on a plane if I have to visit family, so no guns, big knives, etc.
>>
>>3012261
Toothbrush, toothpaste, spare pair of glasses, bar of soap, some hand sanitizer
>>
>>3012261

>>
>>3012328
I considered a powerbank but knowing my luck it'll sit around so long it'll lose charge. A spare charging cable, however, is a very good idea which you've reminded me of. Thanks!
>>3012263
Bar of soap is a good one, they last a long time.
>>
>>3012261
In my opinion, the best large kits are a series of kits. I would say you need a Trauma kit, 'personals' kit, Clothes/Gear, Sanitation kit, Tools/Weapons/Gear, rations and water, filters or sanitizer.
Ill explain more if you're actually interested. My similar kit fits in a standard army duffle, built for 2 people.
>>
>>3012395
I don't think I'm going to be able to get all of that through an airport.
>>
>>3009987
>we live in a dream world, nothing has ever gone wrong nor will it ever go wrong, the government is benevolent and omnipotent!
Why do clowns like you even bother entering these threads, or honestly, even bother browsing or posting anywhere other than face book or any other site currently being pushed by the latest fads?
>>
Do those small cheap faraday boxes for car keys and such would actually protect hard drive backups from frying in an EMP event?
>>
>>3012261
First aid kit, but if it's potentially traveling via plane you need to make sure it's compliant with whatever bullshit erroneous rules the airlines have. Pay particular attention to liquids/bottle sizes.
>>
>>3012435
Provided it's just an EMP and not also the massive heat blast from a related nuclear event, yes. But so will a microwave
>>
>>3012435
A large-scale EMP wouldn't affect handheld devices except maybe radios. The internal wires are too small to pick up the waves.
>>
What are your thoughts on entertainment?depending on your situation, you, your family, or your community may have some lounge time.

Do we go all physical, or should we dedicate possible self made energy to digital entertainment?

Dunno if I’m super into spending the majority of my time reading and shit.

All African countries are on the extreme end of gun control laws.
>>3012261
If you can add a roll on the outside, consider a poncho. Either modern or traditional, but good quality.
>>3012861
A modern chinkheld emulator with a bunch of retro games on it could be good, if you have to busy a kid or childult or distract yourself for an hour or so between all the work that will be needed to survive.
>>
Emulators, never thought of that, Smart!
>>
>>3012893
>poncho
Actually very smart. I'll see about mounting options. Are the army ones any good?
>>
How do you guys feel about all these separate government Twitter accounts posting about "gather 3~7 days worth of emergency supplies" in unison suddenly? It feels like a joint effort across countries to scare people into panic buying/hoarding, but I don't really know how to feel about it.
>>
>>3012955
They are ok but the higher end civilian ones are better.
There are plenty of brands like Snugpak (if you want arm-sleeves), Helikon-tex (typical military style), DD etc. If you live in a place with very cold winters you might want something like the Jerven Fjällduken, but its much more expensive.
>>
>>3012984
I actually think this might not be a nothing burger. Not that the END is coming, but just it's a tacit admission that services are going to see local disruptions and that maybe civilians are too comfortable/complacent about stockpiles. Especially because (as COVID shows) the private sector has ruthlessly eliminated any local stockholding they can leading to an overly lean supply chain. A very fit person should have _some_ fat on them, and probably society is the same. Ironically as we have grown personally fatter society has become skeletal and hypoglycemic.
>>
>>3012984
Western nations aping eachother has been going on for decades already. I just got worse over time and then also, now that sides are being drawn, it just becomes very obvious. So I don't think it's literal conspiracy it's more herd behavior of smaller nations. Obviously they cooperate as well and learn from each other and in doing that they do the same shit.

It being a political move for unity's sake I suppose is very possible. The military is always, always asking for whatever draws society into a more martial stance. So it's a move with no downside for politicians when u can both say that we are listening to experts + hammer in the political instability.

I would say it's a good thing. Hungry neighbors is perhaps your biggest threat in population dense areas. If every household had an extra month worth of food, that's whole month closer to next harvest. 3 months and the scenario where we eat each other pretty much dissapears unless it happens during a harvest. This is partially why I think starvation-apocalypse-preppers in western countries is not the right way to go. As long as global markets are up, your western government is just going to outbid poor countries and buy enough time.

Economic and resilience prepping makes more sense IMO. Keep an eye on how corporations and government will respond to IP laws and digital sovereignty with the reverse engineering debacle etc. That might be a lynchpin.
>>
>>3013032
In my country the private sector 100% bailed out the completely unprepared public sector, during covid. Does your country still run large cold war style storage bunkers?
>>
>>3013054
No, we just had a lot of supply disruptions and shortages. The public sector was in some ways well-prepared (equipment for continuation of government, arms) and in some ways not (lack of PPE for medical workers and then rampant corruption as private sector entities charged through the nose for sub-TEMU shit that didn't work and was never investigated as fraud).
>>
>>3013043
>This is partially why I think starvation-apocalypse-preppers in western countries is not the right way to go.
I agree. Eventually food will run out - either yours or your neighbor's. Being in a self-sufficient community would be one's safest bet, though finding people who are like-minded won't happen until after shit hits the fan. Farming communes seem like a logical next step in a situation like that.

In unison with the fud about AI bringing down the internet, I'm starting to actually get a little concerned about intermittent blackouts and services degredation. I've started looking for land offgrid I could build on.

1000l ibc tank bunker

>please give feedback

Thinking of burying an ibc tank underground, about 7 feet with 3 feet above of dirt. Thin layer of concrete on all sides. The tanks steel frame would be fitted upside down to add structure and with a 1.5m×1.5m sheet of plywood on top to help take the load of three feet of earth.

Need to cut out a small hatch, big enough for a person to fit through and with a u-bend. This steel pipe will be more expensive than the ibc its self but is important to stop radiation and will have a hatch. I also intend of running a pipe down with a hand crank fan and a 40mm adapter on the end to filter air on the cheap.

I intend to fit my wife and myself. Utility in bunker.

>15 litres of water
>wet bucket
>dry bucket
>1kg bag of quick lime for sterilising dry bucket and to create heat
>jar of syrup or oil for calories
>3 NBC-77 SOF 40mm nato filters
>hand crank flash light

Is this enough for two weeks survival? I know it would be terrible but would it be better than being in a brick structure.

I live rural and do not intend on surviving a strike anyway, I would rather perish.
>>
>>3013260
This seems so stupid. Can't you just make a traditional storage cellar if you own your own land? Radiation etc is not a problem if you are underground, you need a filter which stops radioactive particles.
That faggot Furze converted his entire property into a maze of bunkers and tunnels, you can watch his videos if you want to see what modern overbuilt bunker construction looks like, but I dont recommend it, you just need wood and stone, really.
>>
>>3013260
There's no way you'd last out in this alone, let alone two humans.
