How's your prepping coming along? Do you feel satisfied with your current level of preparedness?

Don't forget to share your personal tips and tricks with your /diy/ bros
>>
I have tons of guns and ammo, and a wire rack shelf full of canned goods, beans and rice.
>>
>>3009565
how about water fren?
>>
the #1 thing you should focus on is location before prepping, prepping does you no good if you live in an apartment or even a suburb, those are the first places that will burn, if you don't have at minimum an RV in some isolated woods then it won't matter how much food and ammo you have stocked.
>>
>>3009581
currently in an apartment, but looking at properties, how far you think is safe anon?
>>
>>3009582
its a hard balance because you have to be able to reach quickly it in an emergency but if it's too close to a populated area then it gets flooded with refugees, really depends on where you live

I keep a motorcycle that I have specifically so I can bug out on it if needed, at least that way I can get around traffic jams and blocked roads
>>
>>3009585
interesting, yeah im kinda in midwest land so really not that hard to be out from any major city tbqh desu. Biggest issue with an apartment for me is space and lack of being able to do stuff like set up backup power. Got some radios, some guns and an adequate amount of ammo, but I think as soon as I get a place I own it'll get easier
>>
>>3009587
yeah apartments will not be good, look at what happened in that "government free" zone in California during covid, there were groups of armed thugs collecting protection money from people in apartments.
>>
Any recs for a portable power station + a solar panel? Not so much to survive the apocalypse but to have some power during an outage of a few days. Maybe I could use it day to day to charge small devices like the phone and stuff so it's not just gathering dust rotting away

What should I look for/avoid?
>>
>>3009576
I've got two ponds

I need to stock up on 5.56, I think I only have lime 120rds left, I need another case soon. Other than that, I'm about as good as I'm gonna get given my location. I have plenty of medical and sanitation, rain barrels for water, as well as a few filtration/sanitization methods, and 30lbs of rice, flour, beans, salt, sugar, and oats (the last one is only half serious, I just buy staple foods in bulk and keep an active pantry).
My only fear is I live in a relatively urban area, but there's nothing I can do about that in the immediate future, so I'm just gonna do the best with my situation, and hopefully move so.ewhere more rural relatively soon.

While a pallet would definitely be overkill, I would like more than 120rds. I still like to shoot as a fun hobby and like to keep about 2k rounds of 5.56, 9mm, and 12ga on hand.

Hes over doing it on the rabbits and his poulty is clearly just a hobby, but the rest seems like a pretty well rounded homestead to me.

I guess we could always go urban, rent in the concrete jungle, shop at mega-mart and pay $400/mo electric bills if thats healthier.

>>3009646

the rabbits are an income stream. (meat, show and pet sales) wife makes $300-$1200/mo on them depending on breed, pedigree & purpose. they sell for $50-$150 each. its hard for me to grasp that pricing, and I'm on the inside. "~50 rabbits" is a wandering number that covers breeders, butchers and grow-outs that get sold and/or eaten. similar with the poultry. springtime is a boom in quail & duck sales.

wife makes 10 times the income on her rabbits and poultry compared to what we make on the sheep that breed and birth once yearly.

any over the counter medicine worth stocking up on? I don't think I ever taken a pill in my adult life im out of the loop
>>
>>3009853
aspirin
omeprazole
bismuth
mucinex (not looking up chemical spelling)
diphenhydramine
pseudophedrine
calcium carbonate
>>
>>3009853
You've never taken a pill as an adult? Why? As to answer your question:
>Acetaminophen
>Naproxen
>Ibuprofen
>>
>>3009854
>>3009925
What's the use for those?

>You've never taken a pill as an adult? Why?
Im not antipharma or anything, I just never been sick to the point I feel like I need meds to help out. At most I get like a runny nose or a day of fever some winters.
>>
>>3009550
You should rotate your food after it's stocked and rotate and use the things on a daily or regular basis in your stock. Think of it as keeping a warehouse and use the things in it as part of the lifestyle. My dad bought a bunch of prepper shit like 12 years ago and everything is dilapidated and expired.
>>
>>3009954
The three I posted are for pain. Tylenol, Aleve, Advil, respectively. I'm just surprised you've never taken a SINGLE pill in your entire adult life, that's all. Never had a headache, sore muscles after a hard day, tripped and fell? Anyway, I'm not a prepper, but it'd be a good idea to have something OTC for pain. Probably some aspirin too for emergencies, although it might be moot in a SHTF situation. Definitely an anti-diarrheal to prevent dehydration (Immodium), antihistamine for any allergies (Benadryl, Zyrtec), and something to soothe the stomach (Pepto Bismol, Tums).

>>3009957
Forgot to add: something for toothache. Orajel (numbing gel) and/or a small bottle of oil of clove. And Q-tips aplenty if you scratch/clean your ears as much as I do (and to apply the clove oil, etc).
>>

>And Q-tips aplenty if you scratch/clean your ears as much as I do
Ear spoon. Buy two, they last a lifetime. That way archeologists can dig it out of your pit toilet 2,000 years from now but you will still have one.
>>
What do you prep for in the first world with unlimited resources amd stable government?
>>
>>3009987
The inevitable barbarians flooding from the third world because your country is full of liberal retards

>>

>stable government
Lol. Lmao, even.

Jokes aside I prep so that I always have food even during economic troubles, and just in case a natural disaster cuts my power for a while. Being a really hardcore prepper who stockpiles ammo and jerks off thinking about shooting my neighbors when the nulcear zombie apocalypse comes doesn't really appeal to me.
>>
>>3009925
I used to take that stuff till I was warned about the dangers. Also as you get older your pain tolerance builds, so does your tolerance to any medication. I just avoid it.
