Do any of you anons get one?Is that even a thing in the US, or is that an Euro thing? Maybe even Wera "invented" the idea?I really like the idea and especially Wera occasionally had some "special editions" (i.e. color schemes you can't get outside of the calendar) or fun things (like salt and pepper shakers made out of their iconic handles) that you could get just for fun, but now, that the market is flooded with them, it's always some cheapo bit- or nut-set, which everybody already has plenty of, so it'sa) a waste andb) you just know what you'll get after opening the first door and finding a philips bitMilwaukee used to be on the right track, with their>fuck it, we're doing only 4 big things, for each advent sundayapproach, where you could actually get some useful stuff where you don't already have multitudes of, but now, they also went for the 24 things route (and a high price). Is there any Burger brands I'm missing, that might be interesting to get?Festool isn't looking to bad, but it's coming at a Festool price, so I dunno.
>>3010263calendars with unusual stuff like cigs are a thing, first time seeing a tool one tho
an advent tool calendar either sounds very expensive or very boring. it might be good for someone who doesn't have a lot of tools.
Is this what you graduate to when you get the entire collection of funko pops?
>>3010263They exist in the US but they're much more of a Euro thing. Like you say they're usually shit you already have, and they're usually aimed at "tool collectors" - aka redditors - rather than people who actually use their shit. It's not helped that the poster boy brand for it is Wera, one of the favorites in the world of people who post photos of spotless tools on the internet all day.
>>3010301>muh redditors>muh weraThere it is! Surprised it took that long. Of course getting tools just to get upvotes is retarded, but getting the occasional little thing that you donât really need but realize is quite practical after you got it is quite nice. Plus, certain tools are consumables you you regularly need to replace it. E.g. bits, so that makes kinda sense. However it doesnât make sense to get a full set, if only PZ2 and T20 need replacing. And wera is good enough. Yes, they do have some stupid stuff (but so has any other brand) and they also have some excellent stuff, but mostly itâs OK stuff at an OK price. And if itâs good enough for professional use itâs good enough for me.
>>3010263Let me guess, you're German
>>3010478Honestly I was hesitant to say it. I don't have a problem with Wera or Knipex or any of those brands either, I just have a problem with a certain subset of people circlejerking them and acting like they're the only things on the market that aren't garbage, when most of those people don't even use their tools.
>>3010481Ja, natĂźrlich. Was denn sonst?>>3010483I see. And I kinda agree. Itâs really off putting when a brand seems to be more of a fashion accessory instead of of a legit tool. Iâd say it hurts the brands image, but commercially speaking itâs probably the best that can happen to you. For every 10 professionals you lose, who might even use your warranty, if something breaks prematurely and otherwise will only buy new stuff, if the old is worn through, you gain 100 âedcâ faggots who wonât ever break their tool (canât break something you donât use) and will buy every new âdropâ to show off.
>>3010485Funny enough I just wrote a similar post elsewhere about Leatherman earlier today. They've done kind of the same thing, making high-end tools for collectors and a lot of stuff for more casual users and trying to appeal to people who wouldn't have bought a multitool before, and a lot of people complain about that, along with the high prices, but 99.9% of the Leatherman market are people who buy one tool and use it for decades, and are likely to send stuff in for LM's great warranty service, and those fancy collector tools etc. are what's keeping the company alive and able to keep operating in an expensive state where manufacturing workers actually make good money when they could have just said "fuck it" and moved the company to some low tax low wage state or even shipped production overseas.
>>3010301>>3010487I feel like, at least here on diy, for every circlejerk tool brand post I see 10 posts of people complaining about the âcirclejerk phenomenonâ. >>3010263I suspect shops will drop the price of the festool one or add it to orders for free around november
>>3010485>Was denn sonst? And that's why I don't expect there to many doing this>Ăireanon here>can't get Sika pro3 or expansion foam (goes between slab)>have to order from GermanyReally, I'm just jelly but my point is, not enough people give enough fks to do slab to standard so why buy this - this will still happen >>3010487 but would promotional shit like this alongside real tools fill the need to sell new items? Otherwise, their only profit is from lost tools
>>3010564> suspect shops will drop the price of the festool one or add it to orders for free around novemberI would suppose that there is quite some margin they can play with, but given that itâs Festool and Festool has a quite large fan base, I kinda doubt it. And for it to be added to an order, thatâs probably only gonna happen far above 500âŹ. Or have you seen this happen last year? If so, which shop?
