WTF is wrong with it?
Things I like:
'hood looks nice enough, no trash or junk cars or trailers showing, with big houses and next close similar size for safe are 2X per sq foot.
T1-11 siding. Not the best, but something I've done professionally.
1977: post asbestos and pre-fake board.
Close enough to "city" and even a University of sorts, but not too close, but public sewer (I'm afraid of septic, I use garbage disposal and dump a lot of grease).
Roomy at 3500+ and 1970s Brady Bunch vibe. Sure its a LOT of glass and probably 1 pane, but I've had great luck with that plastic sheet stuff to make 3 pane.
Lots of trees.

Don't like:

Only 1 car garage and so hilly it would be tough to build a new XL 2-3 anywhere except maybe to the right in front of the house sorta where the swing set is.

Neutral: will probably need new roof in new future, but pitch is shallow and simple enough for DIY, even for me.

Has frontage to 2 lane road on back end, but its uphill with no place for anyone to park.

PS-dual kitchens, and fireplaces on both levels next to kitchens.

It's in Huntington, WV. Hardly any jobs. I know CSX has a heavy repair facility there, but that's about it.

It's in West Virginia. Seems like a decent home aside from that, but you'll have to live in West Virginia.

If you have a remote job then knock yourself out; if you don't, good luck finding a job that can pay your mortgage, even if it's a cheap mortgage like that.

I'm retired.

Another thing that is less than ideal is it doesn't any gardening. Maybe plant a few fruit trees?

Also is the high up windows all dryrot and very hard to work on?

Defiantly "custom home" and built prior to the Big Downgrade of craftsmanship.

also thinking sewer line might have roots

Place is huge, what's with the water storage on the side - rain water? Or is that aircon?
Thos trees are heffers on the right, you got huge root problems. Planting large trees too close is age old problem. Big buck to just remove.

Came here to say this. That being said, I fucking love the Appalachias. Super comfy home in the woods is awesome as long as you don't have kids. If you do, they'll probably be angry that they have to live there.

Retired? How fucking old are you? Whenever someone 60+ comes on here it's like a rare animal siting.

63, in 'Frisco gay area.

One fork of the driveway wanders into someone else's property. Neighbors don't always like that. Maybe that neighbor loves the encroachment. You never know.
Maybe those lumps in the carpet are nothing to worry about. Maybe the unpermitted additions won't need to be torn down. You never know.
Maybe the private looking road with newish looking blacktop was fully paid by the current owner and not a reason for a property lien. You never know.
What's the worst that can happen?

looks like AC unit, not water box.

why so much to get rid of trees? I'll just zip-tie my cordless sawsall to a long ass pole and cut the smaller branches. Then ditto with my Echo 320 chainsaw and start cutting 4' chunks of trunk.

I'd think rural WV would have some pretty cheap tree guys, only question is will they not fuck up and send it crashing into the house.

What I'd is attach a rope to upper trunk, then run that to another tree, then hang some heavy weights from the line so it puts tension and will be sure to pull the cut section away from the house. Thots?

Then I got two fireplaces for the wood.

Oh, square footage not matching means "unpermitted additions"? Thx, didn't occur. But which part of the floor plan looks added on? Maybe the blue room with skylights that shows to right side of 2nd floor plan? I'm not seeing it, maybe just minor fuckup by any of several parties and maybe just a Tax "adjustment". Would that sort of thing be flagged when sold, maybe because I'd want my Insurance to be legit? Then again, my overall strategy is to have very little equity so I can "walk away" if need be.

Driveway looks well within plot lines, WTF you seeing?

Road shows as named and public, AND it says "public sewer". Got a few low end mobile homes on same road, but I guess I'd check for liens.

Another "odd" thing I like about this house is the existed, probably fairly old light colored carpet doesn't show massive staining or even much wear. That tells me fairly classy owners, which tends to mean other good things and less hidden deferred shit. When I buy car/truck I either buy brand new Toyota or cheap beaters, and when I buy a beater I judge the sellers more than the beater, like do they have a legit reason from selling a good running beater, like a new baby, mini-van and tight parking.

Don't cut the trees unless they've started rotting. Not close enough to be that worried and if they are the chances of hitting your house are unlikely. They are old trees and they haven't been a concern for the whole time the house was there unless it has happened. You barely have any privacy should find some more regional flora to plant especially if you are taking a tree down.

Is there a metal insert in the fire places cuz the studs are probably too close for volatile wood you plan to throw in there. Unless you planned a drying area.
