Papaver somniferum seeds can be purchased through many online retailers. When the pods drop petals but are still immature/green score the pods 3-4 times to a depth of 1 mm or 1/32nd inch. The resultant latex will dry on the bulb over the next 24 hours.Scrape this latex off once it's dried/turned black. You can boil this in water to separate the plant matter from the latex. Strain through a cheesecloth and boil off remaining water.Not going to get into the lye/ammonium chloride process unless there's interest.
