I got a new to me project walk behind mower that is leaking oil somewhere on the front of the Kawasaki engine. I think it’s a 2001, one owner, used about once a week on 2 acre lawn. I don’t know much about small engine repair but I got time to figure it out now that winter is coming. Any idea on which seal might be bad?

no

Pull the cover off and have a look. Could also be dripping down from elsewhere. How does the oil look and smell? I've seen cases where the needle valve in the carb gets stuck open, floods the cylinder and crankcase, and oil starts burping out of the crankcase breather.

Oil smells and looks fine. Sometimes on startup it has a few poofs of white smoke and then no more
