Interesting translation detail I noticed in Ep 2 of Chainsmoker Cat: the fortune teller says おい、獣人二匹! (Oi, jūjin ni-hiki!). Japanese uses different counting words depending on what you're counting, and 匹 (hiki) is the counter for small animals. The English subtitle just says, "Hey, you two Beastfolk!", but she's literally counting them as critters rather than people. There's an insulting nuance that the subtitles miss... which is what finally gets their attention and explains their shocked reaction
