How do you actually keep your teeth pearl white?I had a professional dental cleaning done some weeks ago but I already noticed some discoloration and some lightish brown lines between my teeth Do I have to give up coffee/tea entirely or is it a matter of discipline in regards to chasing down everything (that leads to stains) with water ?Also is teeth whitening done by a dentist worth the money?

>>18681431PDRN as a topical is pretty much just marketing, its a huge molecule so it can't penetrate the stratum corneum without a special delivery vehicle and exosome as a delivery vechile doesn't have a lot of studies behind it. But it does have panthenol, polyglucuronic and a bunch of ceramides which you do need due to tret and BPO, so I'd say it's good as a product overall.

I started using retinol to sleep but I go to bed so late and wake up so late that the sun has been up for a long time in my room, and I'm wondering if it'll be bad for my skin. There's no direct sunlight, but I use white curtains and the sun can be quite strong.Should I use sunscreen to bed?
Is there much I can do about smile lines or whatever they are? They aren't severe but they linger a little sometimes but go away if I don't really smile and use some moisturizer. Obviously I don't want them to start getting bad but not sure if moisturizing does much, it might just be placebo.

>>18680492Mixed Skin Tips:If you're like me and topical product have had literally zero effect on your acne, seriously try this:- Change your pillowcase every dayJust order a set of 7 pillowcases right now. I discovered how much using the same pillowcase affected my acne when I was traveling and staying at different hotels every night. MY acne practically vanished. Only when I stayed at the same hotel for 3 nights and used the same sheets did it come back. - Shower BEFORE you go to sleep and Wear clean clothes to sleep in.This keeps your body clean so less dirt and oil builds up in your linens. i suggest having a specific set of sleep clothes that you do not wear outside. - Keep your hormone levels under controlThis is mostly if you're roiding but if you hormones are out of wack you will break out like crazy. Excess testosterone converts into estrogen. A lot of this will be working out, sleep, stress management, and diet. - Be mindful of anything that touches your face, such as wiping your nose with your hands, leaning on your hand when resting, or even wearing the same hat. All it takes is a little bit of exposure for bacteria to rapidly multiply on your skin and cause a breakout:Wash hands regularly. Wash your hats/headwear frequentlyBe mindful of over-ear headphones that collect oil. Stop touching your fucking face! - Avoid harsh cleansersI don't even use any face cleansers at all anymore.I just get one of those disposable face towels and wet it with water. All these products and cleansers fuck with the PH of your face and kill good bacteria. The only product I use is moisturizer.Following these tips I've been pretty much acne free for the past 4 years.
>wash face >break out>don't wash face>don't break out Can't even blame this on pillows, since I wash all my linens and blankets and pillow covers each time I wash up.

we need to add rosacea to the Skincare general post. Its not as common in men, but when we do get it, its worse than women's. mine started out of nowhere in my mid thirties, several doctors tried standard acne treatments eventually I ended up with abscesses sll over my face. I got a referral to a dermatologist and she took on look up close at me and said you dont have acne, you have rosacea and you've been treating it wrong. Rosacea occurs on very sensitive skin, and needs treatments that are aligned for it. Doxycycline, bactrim, ivermectin Oral and cream, azaelic acid, light sunscreen and night moisturizer abd face wash (cerave), clindamycin gel twice daily, sulfur soap or face wash and perodixe face wash twice a day starting once a day at 0.5% strength, and up to 10%every other day, to daily as your face allows. it is slow, and gets worse for a bit, but at a month you will break through and clear up over the next two months eventually you will be able to cut back on the treatments until you just keep it under control. everyone us different, but these are what finally helped.

Oh hey neat this exists. 31, only started caring about my face skin this year after my girlfriend kept pushing me. I went through 5 miserable months of bad acne reactions because I have never done skincare in my life, but I finally settled on a routine that leaves me looking great:>AMWash face in the shower with Vanicream facial cleanser (specific product name escapes me since I'm not in the restroom)Nivea Men's Anti-Aging 30 SPF with Pro-RetinolNivea lip balm 15 SPF and Vaseline as needed (I have chronically dry lips)Reapply both Nivea products as needed throughout day>PMVanicream againVaseline on my lips Adapalene 0.1%, leave on for 15 minutesCeraVe PM Ultra Lightweight w/ ceramides and all that good stuffMy skin has never been clearer. Wish I had given a shit when I was young, could have prevented lots of acne scars. Ah well.>>18687348The very first week, I had no pain. My forehead broke out, but that's the cleansing process. After that, the corners of my eyes, the alar crease (where nose meets cheeks), and my neck were absolutely burning. My eyes were dry for about 4 days straight, and I freaked the fuck out thinking I'd done permanent damage as I was reading about my reaction online. I stayed away from Adapalene for a few days, and thankfully my eyes returned to normal. I resumed Adapalene, and I had read online to "shield" my eye corners from Adapalene with vaseline, and that worked. No more dry eyes. That was about a month ago, month and a half, and now I apply Adapalene relatively liberally and close to the corners of my eyes, and below my eyes without any irritation or dryness. What I'm saying is, I didn't feel shit, then it all piled on at once and it was miserable, and now I'm cool. I went through La Roche-Posay triple repair, I went through Eucerin, I was getting acne, shit was burning, etc. before I finally settled on these products. Good luck m8 Adapalene is heaven for the skin when you get it right.

How to fix this
>>18694833I'm starting to get them too (30yo) and I'm not sure if my routine is making them worse. I'm not doing too much, just cleanser, .05% tretinoin, and a moisturizer (+occasionally ketoconazole shampoo for seb derm) but I've noticed when looking up close that the skin there is a bit red so I'm wondering if it's because I'm applying tret there and it's a fold so it starts rubbing in and causing irritation. Haven't done hyaluronic acid but maybe I'll look into it. Some people also suggest sleeping on the back, but it's hard for me to get used to it + I roll around a lot. Any other advice?

>>18696122I wouldn't worry about your skin being hopelessly damaged unless you've been tanning every day for 15 years. Skincare is 100% worth it if you're even slightly conscious about wanting to look good or young. When you see people in their 30's, 40's, and 50's you can really tell who's been treating their skin well. It can literally knock 5 to 10 years off their face (and those who have been treating their skin badly look 5 to 10 years older).

>>18698637SA is primiarily of benefit if you're prone to acne, otherwise it's still good but not essential. It's also somewhat irritating to the skin, so mileage may vary depending on what your skin can handle, especially if it's on top of other irritating products like retinoids, aza, etc. I've seen people with sensitive, dry skin that couldn't really deal with SA and retinoids at the same time, at least initially.>any ways to improve?Retinoids, higher SPF, ceramides, vit C, in that order of importance, retinoids are sunscreen are the big two. You should be going with a high SPF like 60 because the nominal protection starts going down past 2 hours, and it's not feasible to be reapplying every 2 hours everyday. Even 60 is down to about 10ish by the 8 hour mark. 30 is still fine, especially if you're getting little sun, but there's just no real reason not to go 60.
>>18697183They aren't really, at least not across the board. In my experience they have moisturizing figured out better, but europe has overall better sunscreen formulations, less shine and thickness for the same protection on average.
I don't use most of these products every day. Most of the time I just use face wash, sunscreen and moisturiser. My skin is oily and while I wouldn't say I have acne as such (I get pimples sometimes), I definitely have skin texture and blackheads. Any suggestions on how to improve these things? I think my skin barrier is kinda butchered on my nose as well. I always get blemishes on my nose
>>18699778Ignore the conditioner and body cream. Serums are salicylic acid and niacinimide
>>18699778Anti-aging is one thing, but the first solution to anything acne or acne-adjacent, other than basic hygene, is diet adjustment. Try an elimination diet where you exclude a food group that is potentially causing inflammation and increased sebum production. The usual suspects are dairy, high sugar intake (especially processed with little to no fiber), fried, greasy foods and spicy foods, in that order of likelihood.
>>18699553What sunscreen would you recommend? Preferably something relatively cheap that wont break me out. Should i just ditch the cerave AM?
>>18699778I'm in the exact same situation as you. I use glycolic acid and retinol for skin texture improvement. Use only at night. Alternate between them (retinol on monday, glycolic on tuesday, retinol on wednesday, etc.).I also use 5% benzoyl peroxide gel on pimples as soon as they become visible. I don't use it on my whole face because it causes irritation for me, but your skin might tolerate it.Make sure to cover each pimple with a hydrocolloid patch before going to sleep every night. Also make sure you're sleeping on a clean pillow case, and even better if you sleep on your back (so your face never touches the pillow).I also use laroche posay cicaplast b5 baume at night. It insanely good at repairing the skin barrier, which helps a lot with skin texture and breakouts.
I went to a skin clinic about a week ago and had some special face scans done etc and they seemed to say my skin is in absolute shit shape, and now I don't know what to do. I think I look okay and people say my skin looks great, but my main issue is just pretty large pores and getting really oily about an hour after if I cleanse my face. They quoted me about $500 for AHA cleanser, moisturizer, vitamin B serum and a further $3000 for some kind of collagen injections and some other thing. Are they just trying to spook me into spending a lot of money? I kind of freaked and haven't bought anything from them yet, what I've done for now is get some La Roche Posay Vitamin B serum and some moisturizer. The only issue I ever have (with literally anything I use from any brand) is a slight stinging feeling on first application and mild redness, though leaving it on looks like I have a minor but very even tan. What should I do? Anyone got some recommendations?

>>18699778>skin barrier is kinda butchered on my nosei'd watch out for this. most people's immediate response will be exfoliation which is tempting, but a damaged skin barrier can be the root cause of pimples and blackheads too. the lrp face wash you're using has 2% SA/LHA. if you're using that every day it could be one of the reasons for the weak skin barrier. try switching to something gentler and just wash, moisturize, and spf. at night use a barrier cream. this can take weeks to repair, but reassess once you feels it's good. it may be a better option to go with a retinoid or only using an exfoliant periodically if you still have pimples and blackheads. >Barrier Creams La Roche-Posay Cicaplast Baume B5Avène Cicalfate+ Restorative Protective Cream

That clinic said my barrier is essentially toast right now and needs to be repaired.I've seen a doctor since then and they recommended an over the counter moisturizer that has no scents or other shit, and it's the first time I've used something that doesn't sting me or caused immediate redness, so that's cool. But the negative is that I still get super shiny and greasy about an hour or two later and it also makes me look like I have a mild tan with it (not at all red, but a light natural tan, it's very strange).Should I still use any cleanser? The doc seemed to think I should drop everything and only use that recommended moisturizer for a while.

Because doing literally anything but padding my face with a tissue causes me to fully dry out and start flaking literally immediately. I'm going absolutely crazy from this bullshit. I'm seeing my doc again soon to try and figure out what else can be done so that just getting splashed with water doesn't make me dry out.
