My entire life I've tried a wide variety of hairstyles but never really been content with one. How can I go about experimenting with new things in a way that suits my natural head shape and hair without just randomly guessing based on celebrity pictures?

Also, as an extension of that, how do I learn to style my hair properly? I'm vaguely aware of a few different factors that shape how your hairstyle looks, like thickness, volume, product type, humidity, and setpointing, but I have no idea how to use those factors together to create a deliberate result, nor do I know where to learn that

Cut your owm hair, look for inspiration matching your hairstyle. For a year I've been cutting y own hair; mullet, mohawk, buzz cut, flow cut, etc... I've tried them all lol. Confidence and good care will go a long way in tolerating your own appearance though. It's your scalp, you only get one, so stick with it and make it complement your personality and vibe.

I've cut my own hair before but mostly just for simple buzzes. Is the idea just to get more experience with different looks? My hair grows kinda slow so that strategy could take me a while...

experience and familiarity. when you DIY it's easier to achieve what you really want out of your hair. Don't know about you but I've always been awkward with barbers while having difficulty getting anything other than the factory reset zoomer fade, and after many frustrations I've settled for the alternate method.

>My hair grows kinda slow
this does make the process slower but I'd choose to do the same thing I did if I were you.

Yeah, it's kind of hard to describe exactly what you want to a barber, eapecially when you don't even have a super clear idea yourself. I'm considering just having it grow out a little bit to get some material to work with, then going to a well rated barber in the area and just telling him to do what he thinks will look good with minimal guidance. Of course that can be a big gamble lol

Choppenheimer is crazy
