is this outfit too formal for a first coffee date? I'm 34 and typically dating from 20-35, so the age group varies quite a bit. I used to dress much more casually (black tshirt and dark jeans), but I felt like trying to up my fashion game because I was sick of going on dates with women in tshirts. (I get the pants are short, I bought a pair that was the proper length, just didn't get it in the picture)
>>
no but the pieces themselves kinda suck.

not a fan of the shoes?
>>
>>18707364
what will you do when you spill coffee on your pant and get have a visible stain?
>>
>>18707377
hopefully I will be able to avoid that, but it would be an issue if it happens
>>
>>18707381
If it happens just tell your date to lick it off
>>
>>18707377
On the other hand, if all the coffee machines in the establishment go haywire and turn the place into an ankle-deep pool of black coffee he will still be safe.
>>
pants too short, especially with low rise. unbutton top shirt button. square toe is horrid.
>>
>first date
>coffee date
>dressed like that
Why try so hard to get saved as "free dinner"?
>>
>>18707415
yeah, stacks at half mast, lol. you need the pants at least two inches longer anon.

>>18707370
the sleek shape makes them look strange. a more rounded and fuller toe would look better
>>
pants too short and that fake patina on the shoes is tacky af, otherwise nice
>>
Pants are pretty bad aside from being too short. Too slim, tucking in low rise pants took terrible, higher rise and slightly wider would be much better. Shoes and belt color don't work with the shirt and look cheap.

Don't button your top button(maybe even the next one), roll up your sleeves, and untuck if you're going with low rise pants.
>>
>>18707364
alright if you normally dress like that

It boggles my mind just how little other men can have even the most basic aesthetic sensibility. It’s not like it’s terrible anon. It’s really not. And it’s not like I’m trying to put you down. I just don’t understand looking at this outfit and thinking “yeah this looks really good”. The pants are too tight and too short and too see through. They’re also low rise which is common but less ideal. The shoes are dorky. Light brown shoes never work, but dress shoes are just too try hard for what is really a pretty casual outfit. Belt matches, which is good but it’s a mediocre nothing belt. The socks aren’f the right color. Ideally, you want your socks to match your pants, match your shoes, or be a shade in between your pants and shoes. White socks are acceptable for a casual weekend look. The shirt is nothing special. The color sucks. It looks like there might be a pattern, which is juvenile coded. It has a logo unless the logo is a flex or a classic it doesn’t help you any. And you have it buttoned up to the top button. Why? It looks silly.

If you already blew your money on this outfit, then just get a different pair of socks and unbutton the top button. Also, try rolling your sleeves. Look up how to do it correctly on YouTube or something. Next time, do yourself a favor and get yourself an oxford shirt (land’s end has presentable ones for a lower price), some classic cut or straight leg jeans ideally with a mid rise. For shoes, wear penny loafers, chukka boots, or maybe some kind of service/diesel boots with a matching belt. Opt for black, dark brown, burgundy, oxblood, cordovan, or maybe a darker tan suede for a summery look. This a far more classic, nice-casual look that will be inoffensive but still have you stand out among the sea of zoomers in sweat pants.

Why are you responding to someone baiting with a reddit picture?
>>
>>18707891
Oh and to be clear, the belt needs to match the shoes the more formal you get. If you look at the photo you can see the belt doesn’t match the shoes in the first two photos. You can wear a belt that’s darker than your shoes but but you don’t want to do is have a belt much lighter than the shoes with one exception and that’s needlepoint belts if you’re going for a more preppy/trad look.

And FYI proper cloth sells Oxford shirts with length designed to be worn untucked if you want to dress it down.

>>18707892
Idk. I guess I just never know if they’re being serious or trolling and I feel bad on the off chance they’re serious.
>>
>>18707364
it's over, you should just kill yourself.
>>
>>18707364
Unbutton the top collar. The rest looks good.
If she gets upset and wants you to dress like a wigger she is probably low class.
>>
>>18707417
where does that attitude even come from? How he dresses is what I consider the bare minimum for being an adult.
>>
>>18707416
the toe is fine as its a chisel toe.
>>
>>18707891
>>18707894
Not OP but this is a rare high quality post
Very based anon I love you
Also sorry for the bother but why would you say dress shoes are too try hard for a semi casual outfit? I don't like loafers so I usually wear derby shoes or oxfords when I go out
>>
>>18708140
"No dress shoes" is a poor take imo as a pair in a darker shade of brown and a matching belt would harmonize well with the outfit.

What I don't understand is why in a world that is all casual all the time, is dressing up a bit to make an impression almost a bad thing?
>>
>>18707364
>belt
How is nobody mentioning that the belt is on the last hole, it looks like you bought it in middle school
>>
>>18708071
He looks like a used car salesman. Im to applaud because its wearing a shirt? The bare minimum is grey and navy. White pants with a burgundy shirt? And terrible brown shoes with a belt that showcases its wearers depressing lack of spirit and not much else? No. It's a garrish and boring fit with no sex appeal worn by a guy who won't even try to fuck his date. And you wonder. Jimminy crickets.
>>
>>18708157
But he isnt. He's "dressing up" insofar he isnt wearing sweatpants, whoopy. Actual dressing up would involve not wearing the worst shoes in Georgia and a colour scheme that didnt induce vomit.
>>
>>18708169
Your average millennial and zoomer consider putting on anything that isn't their pajamas to be dressing up, so even if this thread is a worthless reddit mfa repost, people actually do consider wearing shoes that aren't sneakers, pants that aren't shorts, and a shirt that buttons up to be extremely formal, like something to wear to a wedding.
>>
>>18707364
It’s not too formal but it is not good. The shoes are awful, the pants are too short and thin fabric to the point where the pockets are visible and the rise is pretty low, the shirt I guess is fine, I like a little looser fit but there’s no collar roll at all.
>>
>>18708071
He looks like a dweeb into post punk and talking about philosophy over coffee.
>>
>>18708175
“Dressing up” is trying to look mature and old like a dad, office worker, school teacher, pseudo intellectual, or your typical cuck who blows money on Lululemon for his cheating girlfriend.
>>
>>18707364
You look like a clown, put some weight on. Gorillamaxx instead
>>
>>18707891
Nice effort post. May some anons learn from it.
