Is it stolen valor to wear a team sports cap for the vibes if you don't care about, and know virtually nothing about, the team, its lore, or the sport in general? If it matters, I am not in fact an attractive female, I just didn't want to use a picture of a male because no one cares about men
i dont know why'd youd do ityou want nothing to do with what the symbolism represents, you just want to wear it?arent you afraid of looking stupid when someone mistakes you for a fan of said thing if you're wearing it?
>>18709098yes
>>18709101I need a baseball cap for long walks and rainy days and stuff, but my options are an extremely running-coded running cap that looks out of place unless I'm in running gear, or a generic "grey man" cap that everyone says makes me look like a cop trying too hard to not look like a copI want something a bit more "blending in" and I live in NYC so it seems appropriate to wear something that supports a local sportsball franchise, ironically yankees caps are like the go-to for actual UCs but I'm not roided up enough to actually look like a UC, I only look like one when I'm wearing the "trying too hard to not look like a cop" hat
I don't think there's anything wrong with it. It's literally mass produced crap
>>18709098>stolen valorSuicide is your best option, retard.
Just don’t wear ones that people will shout fandom things at you for wearing to avoid the awkward situations. For example, I’m not into sports but I am from Pennsylvania, so I used to wear Philly sports hats. Everytime I’d wear an Eagles hat someone would shout at me “Go birds!” and since I’m not a fan it always caught me off guard and made it awkward.
>>18709165>ones that people will shout fandom things at you for wearing to avoid the awkward situationsIsn't that any sportsball hat though?
>>18709098I really recently learned that this cap is meant to represent New York's baseball team. Everyone in France thinks it's just a "New York cap" that you buy when visiting New York.
>>18709184I always get a kick out of france's takes on american culture. Like apparently the entire french lower class decided "kevin" was a cool name from like 1997 to 2003 and so everyone named kevin is considered trashy and a juvenile delinquent and if you apply for a job and your name is kevin you're likely to not get a call back
>>18709174I don’t think so. Yankees and Dodgers hats are basically fashion pieces at this point.
>>18709098wholey fuck i been on /fa/ since 2008 and you fagts get more retarded by the year
"Stolen valor" implies you did something notable. Giving a shit about the Yankees isn't some laudable feat. This is nowhere near comprable to stolen valor.
>>18709111I can guarantee you will look even more like a narc if you go the "hey kids" route of wearing the "cool gangsta emblem cap".Grab a cap that has an emblem on the front, but that is meaningless. Something like "brixton supply", or some skate brand logo for example. Nothing too crazy, and definitely not a 14 year old boy tier flat snapback style cap.
>>18709098I don’t personally give a shit but I’m sure some actual fans might think it’s not cool. Same probably applies to band shirts and university sweatshirts.
Feeling any camaraderie for a sports team is stupid.
>>18709098No. Merch has been a thing in sports for ages and has proven to be profitable. And Western civilization as a whole has degraded to the point that casual wear of sports gear outside of any kind of sporting event is acceptable attire.
>>18709098If you live in the team's area you can do it no problem. I'm on the south side of Chicago and everybody here wears White Sox caps, it's like default attire. If you're black you can where whatever team just to match your fitI wear a Bulls hat sometimes and not a single time has somebody tried talking about the Bulls, but they also suck so there's nothing to talk about. If you know the team is in the playoffs/world series or whatever you might get asked though. Just say it's your girlfriends hat or some shit if you're too embarrassed to say it's just for style
>>18709311I get where you're coming from but what I'm picking up from the thread so far is that the Yankees logo in particular is basically so common as to have become detached from its fanbase. It's a bit more of a problem for me because I live within walking distance of Yankee Stadium but maybe that's even more reason to not overthink this.>>18709429I disagree, you can't even wear cycling kit that has a simple logo on it to be comfortable on a 100 mile ride without casuals and people with what is euphemistically referred to as a "thyroid issue" getting pissed off because "who do you think you are, lance armstrong?!??!", it really depends on the sports gear, I think. Like you can wear a dive watch and most people who are not babby's first watch knowledge urban gentry fans won't care. But some things raise hackles even with normgroids.
>>18709461>it's the clothes the make people hate cyclists
>>18709464>unironically posting SpictossHòla amigo vamos a la woodchipper you fucking wetback.
>>18709228same in colombia with "bryan" or most english (american) names
>>18709276In NY if you wear a Mets hat it's assumed you like the Mets, and if you wear a Yankees hat it's assumed you like hats.
>>18709577Don't get your lycra in a bunch over a cartoon, bikecuck. You've seen that one plenty of times because your kind are just that ignoble and agitating to the rest of society. It will certainly not be the last time you see it. Now clickety-clack back on to your Erectile Dysfunctionator 3000, mamil.
>>18709098It's not stolen valor because there isn't any valor to steal. Honestly if this actually bothers you it's far more pathetic than some stacey wearing whatever logo she saw some girl on instagram wearing.
