They're very cool and they do have great history, but their water resistance is pretty dodgy. That's really the only knock on them.

Also, get the three-hand "Purist" version.

If i want a dive watch to have the rest of my life and to pass down to generations would it be stupid to get a solar one?
>>
>>18719119
I have personally owned solar powered watches from the early 1990’s that work just fine 30+ years later.
>>
>>18719124
Ever replace a battery? Would you imagine batteries for these types of watches would go extinct?
>>
>>18719125
I never did, but I know someone who sent in their old (also) 1990s Seiko solar powered watch to Seiko for servicing and they swapped out the capacitor for them. Watch was like brand new afterwards.
>>
>>18719119
Yes. Your kids aren't going to want that shitter, and they probably won't want a rolex either really. But at least with the rolex they could sell it and use the money on something they actually do want instead of having a piece of garbage forgotten about in a drawer somewhere
>>
>>18719129
So its not really a battery more so a capacitor?
>>18719131
>selling a family heirloom
You are a disgrace
>>
>>18719135
>You
It's not something I would do, I'm just being realistic. If my kid didn't wear watches, had no interest in them, and I handed them down a watch, I'd prefer they sell it and get something or do something with the money that would make them happy rather than let it sit and collect dust.
An heirloom also usually implies that the object has some sort of real value.
>>
>>18719142
Sentimental value.
>>
>>18719119
>have the rest of my life
Not a bad idea
>pass down to future generations
This is where it's kinda stupid imo. If you end up being an incredible father, perhaps one of your children will want your 300 dollar seiko as a memento of you, but fundamentally, these are inexpensive watches, and it will be kind of hard to get your kids excited about the prospect of inheriting it. I have great respect for my dad and my grandfather, but both of them have given me "heirlooms" that are really just kind of useless junk that take up space desu. IMO, save up for something a little nicer, and buy it for a special occasion, that way there can be a story associated with it. I understand not everyone can afford a Rolex, but maybe at least a longines conquest or something idk
>>
>>18719152
What would you suggest if I wanted a good dive watch then? Id like it under 40mm im a wristlet. The one I posted is 38.5
>>
>>18719147
Would you rather your grandfather pass down to you a chinky piece of crap worth zero dollars with sentimental value, or a well made watch worth a few thousand with sentimental value?
And sorry for the rhetorical question, but if your answer is "it truly does not matter to me at all" then I believe you are in a small minority and think that you should be able to admit that.
>>
Is this watch on too loose? It feels fine and doesnt slide much left/right if any. Sits behind wrist bone ok. And tighter i think itd leave marks.
https://streamable.com/s5p9ct
>>
>>18719159
You're the one wearing it, if that's how you like it then it's good.
It would drive me nuts, I have to have my watches tight enough to not move around. They usually leave slight indentation on my skin but it's not cutting of circulation or anything.
>>
>>18719103
No, that’s some guy (possibly Credor anon though Im not sure) trolling me by posting an AI image of me.
>>
>>18719163
In the video where it was sitting was furthest on my wrist where crown digs into back hand so where it slides back its pretty snug. In your opinion too loose?
>>
>>18719103
I just wanted to reiterate that I am definitely not the one spamming that pic on end over and over. I don’t mind the image but I don’t want the watch general users thinking I nonsensically just spam it over and over like that.
