Been to Paris and the 16th district. They definitely like slim white/super light cream cotton trousers and navy sweaters. Older guys wear those multi stripe pattern shirts sometimes.

And they actually wear the blue chore coats too, but mostly older men.

What are some other brands that offer a similar price-to-value ratio? How does Charles Tyrwhitt compare? Although their price seems shit from Canada vs the UK/US stores.

Anyone ever bought chinos from Dockers? Are they any good? Need a couple pairs and don't want to pay a fortune.
>>
>>18718983
Been a while since I tried a pair on but their Eighty-Six line looks /tip/, but also more expensive. Dockers still has some details inside like a waistband and pipin, so they're not made as cheap as humanly possible.

I have 2 pairs of 90's dockers off Vinted (see dockers label guide on internet). The material is really thick on one pair and the other is a thin summer pair, both with double pleats. There's also another anon here who said he has lots vintage pairs.

I went to a dinner with two doctors (male and female) and a female med student and some other upper class people and none of them new literal basic clothing terms. Told me I'm being too snobbish and I'm trying to hard because we were talking about the wedding we're going to and I mentioned I wanted a double breasted suit with high waist straight cut pleated trousers with no cuff and a full break.

>what are pleats?

Hello brethren, /fit/izen here. Am a degenerate noob when it comes to clothing brands, especially for what to wear to work.
Am wondering where I can find some good chinos. Should I be aiming for a certain material for it to be made out of too? Or keywords for the fit itself, like “fit” or “straight” if I have an athletic build?
I apologize for the sheer amount of ignorance on my end.
>>
>>18722046
> Am wondering where I can find some good chinos
Check Uniqlo Regular Fit Chino Trousers, Dockers

> Should I be aiming for a certain material for it to be made out of too?
Chinos means "khaki colored cotton twill trousers" so cotton woven into a "twill" pattern. 100% cotton is standard but many brands sell e.g. 97% cotton, 3% elastane, but /tip/ likes 100% cotton. Many other colors than khaki these days but khaki is standard issue.

> Or keywords for the fit itself, like “fit” or “straight” if I have an athletic build?
Yeah if you have large thighs you might wanna look for "relaxed" or "loose". You don't wanna have the chinos look like leggings in the thigh area.
>>
>>18722046
If you have a pair of pants that fit you well measure them and compare that with the measurements provided by the shop when buying online, if the store doesn't provide measurements it's garbage.
>>
Recs for decent off the rack dress shirts? Or any direct-to-asia custom shirt sites that at least would offer basically the same shirt but for cheaper?

I've been getting shirts from proper cloth for a while but I feel in the last few years I feel like they're just not cutting it- I'm seeing the fabric wear out or tear in weird places, pucker in weird areas when I iron them, basically just not worth the $150 I'm paying for each when they don't seem to last that long.

are wax capes /tip/? should I buy one?
>>
>>18719455
Sounds like you're fully dunning kruger-ing it. Nobody is impressed that you know a few meme fashion terms. They were right to call you try hard. Wear a nice outfit and don't be an annoying fag who has to yap about it to everyone. I'm not trying to be a dick, it just sounds pretty obnoxious for you to prattle off a bunch of stuff that you already know nobody is going to know or care about. And yes to be fair they sound like plebs but so is almost everyone.

>>18724761
it's a really cool item of clothing but if you wear that, you will look like you're cosplaying, period. Do you want to be one of those weird steampunk fatties that walk around with a top hat and a pocket watch? That's not what /tip/ is about, in fact it's a full rejection of that

I get it, I really do, it's a pitfall, but at the same time I think fashion warrants a "dress for the occasion", otherwise you become too insecure to even tuck your t-shirt. I'm planning a hiking trip in the country in a notoriously rainy place... Maybe I should just get a jacket for versatility, but on the other hand I found the cape for a really good price and the look seduces me; I'm holding myself from an impulse purchase

How are you supposed to wear mules, clogs and slippers?

They seem to be popular online but I have never seen anyone wear them irl. They are mostly styled with baggy pants so you cant actually see how they look or if they even wear socks with them, and the models are never walking around. How do you avoid your heel constantly slapping on the ground like a beach slipper?
