Jorts and cargo shorts are for some reason the two most "controversial" (or at least online) types of shorts out there but I say they can look fine as long as they're above your knees. For me the thing that makes shorts look bad is them being below your knees. Then knee-length is better then below the knees but still bad. So above the knees only. Doesn't even have to be a lot. Just an inch or two above the knee is already fine. Go shorter than that if you want to.
