like I get it's a stereotype but still they are frighteningly stupid. I went to a famous fashion college and it was like being in an asylum. All these girls in heels thought they were gonna be STARs & are the most performative / pretentious on isntagram. but they don't larp intelligence, they larp- being a good person, being "real" & chill when in fact they are cruel, fake and elitist. I'm trying to figure out whether designers know this or are just dumb themselves. Pic is from one of those retro mini cds that came with a SANSANGEAR thing I got- which is a cool idea but it just had a bunch of stupid Dalle2/AI images in it- like not even good ones.Acronym had an event thing called WorkGRP where you had to install this retarded chinese app and solve puzzles- it was so dumb but I did it for the reward. which was a USB necklace. I thought it would have some behind the scenes of design or something niche but inside were some audioclips of a guided meditation session in a grating robotic voice. I'm trying to understand whether this was them in a way trying to teach a thing or two to retarded hypebeasts or just simply an insult to those who wasted hours trying to get it. Smart or dumb I can't tell. For the record techwear is gay I know, but during 2017-2021 acronym had a good phase of subtle military-esque longevity items. Kat, ruined Erlsn, IYKYK ACRNM is over.Nowdays I follow some mil inspo brands and their designers & I just cant tolerate how loud and stupid the things that they post are. Especially these asian californians. They are incestuous and inbred within their massive "friend groups".
They did all that to waste your time and take money from retards like you. It’s a business first, and an art form second. Kinda like the hipsters of the early 2010s going to art schools. Their “art” was retarded and even the Jewish teachers knew as well. But, behind the scenes, someone made money off of trust fund students who acted like retards. The fashion industry is similar to art galleries. The weird pretentious shit worn by androgynous aliens with no eyebrows is just collateral for laundering money while the model is a gay coke-addicted whore taking it up the butt in a fancy loft with white painted bricks.Designers don’t bother creating anything new or actually good-looking because they already have a money-making system in place through marketing, not inherently good products. If you want to see actually well-tailored apparel with actual good tastes, go find an old Italian man in Tuscany who runs a humble shop making garments.
>>18722199you're right and I'm glad you said this. Affirims my beliefs to my corrupted brain where the opposite was hammered into my head during my "studies"The tradedy now is that I am completely unemployable with a fashion design degree.Since I'm still into making products under my own terms... I guess the path i've been thinking about is adjascent to the Italian man in Tuscany- where I just make wearable items that I personally like and try to sell on a small scale. I don't think scaling is possible for me.
>>18722004'Fashion' is for pretentious assholes.
>>18722334Post something you’ve made
bro techwear died in the early 2010s. its way too costumey.
>>18722355Prototype leather bag student work.>>18722352so what do we call it when it's not 'fashion'. I like clothes, shoes and accessories. the materials & craft involved plus how they look. I don't mind some pretentiousness but these 'assholes' are some of the worst people I've ever met.or is it pretentious to enjoy these things in the first place and being an asshole is unavoidable lol
>>18722334Well, hopefully you did learn some skills. I’ll give you some good news, though.Fashion, as an industry, is mostly a joke. It’s all the nonsense like I said. However, that doesn’t mean people don’t appreciate a pair of pants or a shirt that looks interesting or appealing. For example, I own a pair of jeans with a fun embroidery on them. I got them because I just liked them. I get compliments on them. They weren’t expensive. However, the manufacturer got a sale because they were inherently liked rather than pretentious fluff surrounding it such as marketing, gimmicks, fraud, etc. I too have crafted a few things of my own and have been asked thousands of times if I have an Etsy account, which I don’t. My point is, assuming you’re wanting to be a designer, there are still people who’d want to buy something you designed that has a natural appeal. People may be idiots, but they can still appreciate inherently nice things.Let’s say you DO want to start a clothing line. The most important thing is collateral. That’s just about it. Everything else is when you’re established and above water, including your approach to marketing.
>>18722357Techwear wasn’t a thing in the early 2010s.
>>18722199So true.My cousin's two sons went in for "graphic design". I tried to talk them out of it (and I caught hell from my cousin for that but it was the right thing to do). Unfortunately they listened to their parents which just spouted the retarded boomer "any degree is a good degree!!!" crap. Now both of them are in massive debt and unemployed. Good job parents!
>>18722334I know one girl from my highschool graduating class who did complete a degree in that and made money. She became a tailor. Still does it to this day as a side business after she got married.
>>18722366'collateral' is just focusing on the craft right? tasteful photos and presentation with a solid & well made product. Since I have a tech background I have already built web infrastructure for making purchasing things that I make super easy and frustrating-less... but I'll hold off that for now and just focus on the craft.I think my products are too niche to make money though really. I'm a fresh graduate. I think i need to get a normal job to fund anything interesting that I want to do.
>>18722004Because they never had to work on their intelligence, knowledge and skills because throughout their lives they got things handed to them because of their looks. Just like muscles you need to give your brain and mind a proper workout if you want to develop them. if you don't, especially during your formative years, you'll irreparably damage them.
