Thread for SERIOUS DISCUSSION about Denim, Workwear, Americana, Cowboy, Western, and adjacent styles

Just fyi chainstitch hemming is not a lost art or anything, it's just that the particular Union Special machines used to chainstitch back in the day had a design defect that caused that diagonal "roping" effect, in reality a properly done chainstitch isn't supposed to do that.

What an odd things to bring up apropos of nothing

No clue how he got his pants so fucked up while keeping the leg cuffs so mint. The denim I wear is all fitted properly yet the ends are always fade and tear only second to the knees. I imagine its due to dirt and shit from working in them, but with how worn his thighs/knees are I have to assume hes not avoiding labor with his

They're arguably more versatile than blue jeans.

didn't you know? dei nigger op pictures and endless shill posts >>18723289 >>18722590 >>18722705 >>18722708 are enforced by the janny.
they have a script so that if you try to start the OP for any general your post gets deleted and replaced with the janny's precooked version.
every board and recurring general works this way.
they're spooks and communists, that's how they take over institutions.

It's called race you nigger. Why do NPC golem always call race "ethnicity"? Ethnicity is a subset of race. They are not interchangeable.

This is the perfect style of Fade for me. Not too high contrast, but still enough that it's unique. Maybe wash every 2-3 months, assuming regular daily wear?

im just one guy with a crazy idea but what if we just ignored the dei spammer and posted fades?

post your fades ignore the spammer
>>
>>18723429
thats what i call half and half fades, also
my favorite. those haven't been washed too many times, maybe 4-8 cycles depending on what detergent is my guess from how dark the darker parts of the whiskers and below the knees are. and they have pretty strong combs and well set in creases. i usually accomplish that sort of fade by doing the high contrast fade no wash thing for half a year to a year depending on how hard you wear them and how much you want the creases to visually pop, AND THEN i start washing liberally.
i also have looser fitting zero wash jeans that begin looking that way after 5yr or so. so you can achieve it multiple ways.
washing right away you wont get the type
of creases or high contrast parts of your example fade, unless they're tigher fitting and worn hard, is my guess.
hard wear and uv does just as much for the low contrast part of the fade as the washing machine does imo.
>>
>>18723429
the fits also crucial in how the fades evolve, you want that sort of loose but not too loose fit he has in your pic. too loose and you won't get the creases, too tight and they'll look more vertical and be more contrasty than those. relaxed-straight fit for those fades.

God blue denim looks so ugly, if you think about it. Why did blue become the default color for jeans instead of black? Mid wash blue jeans look like complete shit. They're much better when raw, or uniformly light wash. Black jeans on the other hand look good at any level.

Not to mention, blue doesn't even look good on every skin tone and complexion. If you're really pale, blue makes you look deathly pale. If you have brown or black skin, mid wash and light wash indigo blue will make you look even darker. Meanwhile, black jeans look good at any level of fade, and will look good with any skin color.
>>
>>18723446
Because its been one of the cheapest dyes in the west around going back millenia. Before proper indigo started being imported from India to Europe, people sourced the same chemical from woad. Black is a comparatively expensive dye but has had its popularity in in Anglosphere on and off going back to like the 16th century but mostly with the middle classes who wanted to dress less flamboyant by going entirely black.
>>
>>18723480
But by the time denim became popular among the general population in the 1950s (and not just workers), synthetic dyes were much cheaper than natural indigo. So multiple colors of denim should have been popular, just like with t-shirts. But instead 95% of denim sold and worn by people is still blue.
>>
>>18723480
>>18723484
they tried to push for black denim for a while but it never took off because sulfur dyed jeans react with heat turn gray if you air dry them and don't baby them. newer dye methods were not available.
anecdotally, i wear my blues way more than my black jeans because its easier to fit them into non all black fits and they look good with most footwear whereas with black it has to be more coordinated with sneakers (if youre a bootfag its non issue.) indigo just kinda goes with almost everything in my wardrobe and black doesn't.
>>
Is bleached denim for the gays / women?
>>
>>18723520
sure
>>
>>18723520
All denim is for men. Bleached, light wash, stone wash, raw, faded, distressed, even embroidered jeans, were all made first for and by men. Faggots and women appropriated them later, like with everything else in fashion.
