Rather than having a king with a crown north korea and china decide to have a clean suit exquisitely made that represents their people and roots.I like it because its a good nod to their people and its fun to see a different culture represent itself from a bizzaro across the globe almost alien-like reverso worldview.The pockets also draw the eye nicely.

The Kim dynasty, or any cult of personality for that reason, can only stand when the entire nation and sycophants are behind the leader.The Kims spend a lot of time thinking about what they wear and how they are percieved because every photo-op is an opportunity to strengthen their grip on power.Some of Kim Jong Un's tactics include his hairstyle and obesity (yes he is partly fat on purpose) to allow him to resemble his grandad, the founder of the nation. If he was a slim 30 something year old when he took over the nation, people would think who the hell is this guy. But if hes fat and has a hairstyle that resembles the eternal leader, now thats a guy who can lead.

It’s based off of a European frock coat then simplified for workers. The Mao jacket was supposed to look like a laborer’s jacket with pockets, hence its more boxy frame and less tapered waistline, even on slimmer wearers. Then you have the tropical evolution known as the safari suit which was popular in South America and Africa and work with an opened collar.I’m surprised there aren’t new models or takes on it.My issue with the Mao (and Stalin) suits is that the collar is too rounded at the corners, or the collar is too low. The German frock coat was nice and high and better sculpted, but unfortunately was also cheesy with everything else while communist suits were minimalist and sleek.
