First time visiting this board. How dead would you guys say it is on a scale of 1-10? I have no idea since I can’t compare to the past
>>
2. It’s just watch spammers from /g/ wanting to feel victorious and everything else is a boring shitpost like the gorilla spammer. Anyone actually talking about fashion is a bitter faggot above the age of 40 militantly believing that this board’s meta should be exclusively menswear and that zoomers are bad just because they’re the new hip generation not dressing like Mr Rogers.
>>
>>18730118
Good to know I have some vague feeling on how I want to dress and I wanna take being "fashionable" more seriously

But I’m kind of an oversized wearing Zoomer so I guess that would just get hated here?
>>
>>18730115
Go on 4stats.io and see for yourself. The entire website is a ghost town filled with rapidly ageing millenials
>>
>>18730122
That’s a cool site never seen that before. There’s so many boards I’ve never even heard of, probably a bad idea that there’s this many. Many of these could just be a general on another board so it wouldn’t dilute it so much. But the site is slowly dying anyways because the average demographic just grows older and older with few young people as exceptions. Suppose that’s just the life of every online forum after enough years
>>
>>18730120
Anything that has taste, style, or is mainstream is shunned here, mostly out of spiteful jealousy towards younger people. I’ve seen plenty of good zoomer fits but these older users would shit on it solely due to the fact that it’s worn by a younger generation. I say this as a mid 30s millennial.

Dont even dare share anything about streetwear or something that even remotely had a sense of taste or casual style. Tucked-in button-downs, loose khakis, and leather shoes or boots are the only acceptable styles, apparently. Dressing like a school teacher or an older married man into sailboats is the style allowed on this board.

Did I mention watches?

>>18730122
What I noticed about the fellow millennials on this site, especially the ones even older than me, refuse to accept change. Sure, zoomers do a lot of dumb shit, but hating on them and feeling threatened by them is clearly obvious by the way millennials on here bash anyone or anything young. This board, for example, clings to the 2010s like a lifelines and astroturfs hard to force a meta consensus.

Rather then clinging to the past and hating on zoomers wearing zoomer attire, why not as “so perfect and awesome” millennials invent a brand new trend from the ground up that even younger people would be impressed with? Start a brand new trend. Here’s an idea. Bring back bell bottom flares.
>>
>>18730126
I think generals in and of themselves have played a big role in the desertification of 4chan
>>
>>18730144
None of them are even organic. People militantly keep them alive like they’re required to push away other threads. You’ll also notice that there’s always an avatarfag, anons knowing each other, people bringing up random personal things like what they had for dinner, and sometimes even a discord or telegram behind the scenes. They’re more circlejerks than anything. Like sticking a flag in the ground and claiming territory.
>>
>>18730137
I think clinging to the 2010s is true for all boards here. It’s really embarrassing to me as a not so active user of the site how people make the same unfunny jokes they made since like 5-10 years ago, just seemingly being completely stuck in their development. This site is seemingly really apprehensive to a general change in culture, I don’t think it’s this way on other social medias, or way less so
>>
>>18730148
I haven’t been on here for super long we’re generals not always a thing? I think they make sense sometimes but some threads are definitely just weird echo chambers to strengthen one believes in some random niche thing
>>
>>18730149
Most of it is fear of being old and feeling like they missed out. People who were once hip are aged out and no longer hip, so they hate on the people who replaced them. This is why I mentioned how you have people here acting like the 2010s are still hip and looking and dressing old is pushed as ideal when it’s actually not.

Rather than clinging to the past and hating on the new present, be an innovator for the future thus setting a new trend or baseline.
>>
>>18730144
Anything outside of the generals gets shoved out of the catalog by newfags posting [picture of anime character/Guy Fieri/current news thing/Netflix slop of the week/porn] asking "How do I copy this style?".
I'm all for humorous shitposting but that shit's so stale and low-effort it can only be interpreted as malicious spam.
>>
>>18730150
Not always. At first it was to collate spam. You’d have multiple threads bringing up the same shit and flooding the catalogue. This was an issue on the video game board roughly one decade ago. At the beginning, the idea worked. It slowed down spam, allowing other organic threads to continue without being buried by a single topic. Unfortunately, the issues I mentioned with general threads became an issue, especially with the analogy of sticking a flag in the ground. The circles consider their general threads as board conquests.

As you can see on this board, watch generals don’t help much, because someone’s still going to create a new watch thread for the sake of spamming rather than posting in their designated general threads. Yet again, the conquest analogy holds merit.
>>
>>18730155
Or is it the generals shoving other things out? Or maybe these small spam threads are made by the anons in the general threads? Just a theory, however.
>>
Solid 8, I was active during Covid, left for a few years, briefly lurked in summer 2023, left again and came back a week ago and it’s somehow even more of a ghost town with even weirder spammers who discovered genAI. But the weirdest thing by far is how millennials have turned into worse versions of boomers even though I remember them moaning that everyone hates them for fucking decades. Genuinely feels like I’m on r/millenials when I go on 4chan these days. Honestly the internet as a whole is dead a fuck now, I’d rather go outside and I’m only active on here when I’m waiting for someone or for a bus/train.

Oh yeah and watch fags are genuinely a plague on this board, I like watches but those guys make ME feel like a virgin.
>>
>>18730162
the whole watches cigars and whisky vibe is gay as fuck
completely out of touch
>>
>>18730162
>Genuinely feels like I’m on r/millenials when I go on 4chan these days.
Except that it's the last place with freedom of speech that is not totally fucked by the algorythm pushing some content (unlike reddit and X on both ends of the spectrum).
It's a ghost of what it was 12 years ago, and it's almost dead, but we will miss it when it's gone.

And yeah, this place is not relevant for fashion advices. You don't take fashion advices from NEETs, pajeets and social outcasts.

The /wt/ are alive at least, the rest is dead.
>>
>>18730167
I think it’s pushed here to make people believe that it’s what the public likes when it may be just to sabotage any retard really gullible enough to fall for it in real life.
>>
>>18730150
If you go on warosu it looks like generals only really started around 2013 and we're much less organised affairs (a cop or not and hair general mainly), I think I remember them not especially being prominent anywhere on 4chan before 2013/14. I remember threads being much more organic and diverse before too. Not just an /fa/ thing either.
>>
In general (lol) I think what people want from 4chan is to post random bullshit but for some reason everyone thinks they are too good for /b/. /b/ is funny to think about too because it really is the most emblematic 4chan board (behind /pol/, but it's totally moribund, just a place to spam porn.
>>
>>18730200
I don’t get /b/ at all. It’s just porn. I don’t want to see porn outside of masturbation. Was it ever not just porn?
>>
>>18730203
There was always porn but it wasn't the only thing on there. I remember back in maybe 2009 there were lots of creepy pasta threads, and generally a lot more diversity, draw threads stuff like that.
>>
>>18730200
/b/ is full of people using the proxy site. It’s mostly Russians involved in pushing prostitution and illegal shit. The rest is cuck or sissification trash.
>>
>>18730167
Watches aren’t even that interesting to talk about. You might get a few comments that are a variation of “nice watch anon”, that’s about it. Just buy a classic longines and fuck off seriously.
>>
>>18730177
Idk, I kind of hope that the internet as a whole craters, I still don’t get how this entire thing is mostly built on ad revenue, insane business model. Every time I go online I feel like I’m walking around a mall filled with merchants loudly shooting in my face to buy their shit, a guy shitting on the floor screaming his face off about black people, an old person in a wheel chair repeating “back in my time” over and over again and a guy jerking off in a corner. Just one big gross vibe. Read “A supposedly fun thing I’ll never do again” and that’s pretty much how the web feels like to me now
>>
>>18730115
Like a 4
Ive seen the board in a worse state numerous times. The spam of demoralising certain phenotypes of people fat, asian male, black is cruel and is pissing off people.

I think most people have taken up the hobby of talking to AI now than giving eachother shit here with banter.

>>18730137
You should post your streetwear and shit man. Yeah, millenials will give you shit but itd be more interesting if the “ it “ generation shitposted here again.

Its too quiet and there is basically no way for someone like me pushing 30 to know what is going on with the zoomers.
>>
>>18730237
Oh i meant 6 i scaled it wrong
>>
>>18730120
there's also this one dude that always replies first whining about "bitter faggot above the age of 40" or "dad" or "menswear" but he's too pussy to post his own stuff.
>>
>>18730148
There ought to be separate versions of each board for generals, or at least make it so they don't just bump everything else off the board. The problem is that as traffic has fallen in general, posting rate in generals has decreased less so they become more prominent. They are really just mini-boards unto themselves at this point, especially on /mu/.

But unless the userbase suddenly increases in size and becomes less pointlessly hostile and crotchety I don't think anything will change. Posting on here is kind of a weird and hostile experience now, everyone is so amped up and negative, especially on a board where for it to really work we need people posting fits. If you do that now you risk becoming some freakazoids personal lolcow as he stalks you to the ends of the internet.

There's a lot of people on here who think posting on 4chan is a form of political/spiritual activism or something. Not fun.
>>
The post statistics of each board are available at https://4stats.io/

Pretty much every single board is a mere fraction of what it was. 4chan in general is dying.
>>
>>18730281
I'm not even sure there will be tourists this summer.

Gen Z/Alpha don't give a fuck about the site, except for /b/ for the porn (and yeah, it's vanilla porn compared to the old times).
>>

>>
>>18730283
This isn't 2016 anymore. Nobody gives a shit about 4chin anymore. You can find way more edgy stuff on xitter, IG and TikTok now, and much better and faster engagement. 4chan is an outdated website for millennials and boomers.

The thing thats killing 4chan is AI and bot farms.

The very nature of 4chan is the feeling of anonymisation. That means you cant have user accounts. That means a very easy barrier to entry for posting. However, as bots and AI is getting better, how can you stop bots from posting AI slop that is seemingly human?

Normal captchas are easily solvable, so you have to increase barriers to prevent these threats from running the boards. That means delays to post, that means harder captchas, that means people get frustrated and leave.
>>
>>18730375
Ask yourself, when you have no cookies and you have to wait 2 minutes to post and you fail captchas several times sometimes with the harder ones, I would honestly say the majority of people surely click off 4chan and give up before posting. That can mean a potential 50% drop in posts straight away. Thats before the whole internet shift is taken into account
>>
>>18730283
yeah.

My summer job starts in two days and once I start I won't have time to summerfag on 4chan, the only reason I'm on rn is because I spend my days sunbathing, eating and partying and this place fills the odd hours where I'm waiting on people to get ready. But anyone with shit to do has zero time or interest for this shithole.
>>
>>18730360
I did not say to stop wearing anything, did I? I merely pointed out how the board exclusively expects only one style like a written rule.
>>

what are you even talking about? theres maybe 3 millenials on this board who still wear 2010 era fits and they get made fun of every time they post a fit. most of us moved onto classic menswear silhouettes, which is what's in style this decade.
>>

over half the posts per day on this board are the resident schizo, and me arguing with him. im not kidding this place is that dead. some days theres less than 50 posts not made by us.

generals werent an organic thing. they started showing up in 2013. if youre new to 4chan, 2012 is when the srs raids happened and the janny staff list started getting filled with glowniggers and activists. they introduced the generals. this is the same for nearly every board on 4chan, generals did not really exist in general, prior to the srs raids.

this site has had massive impact on popular culture the last 10 years. they say our in jokes from 10 years ago on the news now.

>>18730155

>>18730237
the gay black guy spam is a direct response to the anti white spammer. im the guy who does it. if he stops making threads denigrating white people i'll stop making gay nigger threads. simple as. its an act of protest. join the sagger revolution.

>>18730203
b used to actually be a real board with a community before the srs raids. i used to post my home address on /b/ and meet up with random anons. i also saw someone strangle a prostitute and post pictures of her corpse on /b/ it was more of a wild west grab bag back then. only porn used to be the trap threads, and it wasn't a general just a commonly recurring thread.
>>
>>18730177
4chan has sucked ass since the exodus, lets be real.

>>18730178
its marketing, this is the cheapest website to shill on by far. half the watch thread anons dont even exist, its just pics from old reddit posts.
>>
>>18730157
>Or maybe these small spam threads are made by the anons in the general threads
>>18730279
>or at least make it so they don't just bump everything else off the board.

Funnily enough the mods over on /jp/ started making all threads older than a certain age auto-sage because people in a vtuber general that wouldnt migrate to /vt/ start bumping random threads to shove their general to page 10 to knock it off the board once they hit the image limit. They weren't brave like the Sakamichi general which currently has 11 sequential threads up on the catalog right now each created seconds after the image limit was reached because like most generals across the entire site they are basically image dumps. If you really think generals are an issue you should take a trip back to /v/ almost 2 decades ago to experience ASSFAGGOT generals knocking 3-4 pages off the board all trying to bake at the same time. /v/ would actually be unusable if a tournament was going on because those idiots would nuke the entire board baking. Yeah people in generals can be fucking schizophrenic towards any discussion, using the thing as either a blogposting hug box or image dump, and are breeding grounds for drama and cliques but at the very least the average size and speed of one is so small that it should never actively hinder the rest of a board by existing. This is ignoring general fuckers escaping containment to be nuisances, like all the watch threads that started appearing recently.

>schizophrenic
thats the blanket accusation that the discord leftist activist freaks use for anything they don't have a response to.
communists and leftists have a long history of abusing false accusations of schizophrenia to discredit political dissidents:
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sluggish_schizophrenia
its like the shill-o-meter. when you get called a schizophrenic by one of them it means you are right on the mark.
and its also pure projection. jewish people have the highest rate of schizophrenia, and white people have a lower than average rate of developing it.
>>
>>18731749
which post exactly do you think shows signs the writer was schizophrenic, and why specifically? i just read through the thread again and all the posts seem to stay on topic, which wouldn't be possible for a schizophrenic to do. have you ever even read a writing sample from a schizophrenic person before? i don't see which post you think was written by a schizophrenic. can you quote it and explain which schizophrenic writing tic(s) are in the post?
