All clothes are LARP. Yet some clothes are more LARP than others...

What makes something look bad/costumey/gay/LARPy?

>What makes something look bad/costumey/gay/LARPy?
Poorfags be buying cheap shit. You will look like a homo in your $300 two piece "tailor fit" off the shelf ass suit, especially if you have the frame of a fat ass like your picrel
>>
>>18733532
Hot people look good no matter what. The shorter answer is fat.
>>
>>18733535
This is contemporary society's most taboo TRVTHNVKE

Why do you keep spamming this guy?

>What makes something look bad/costumey/gay/LARPy?

>LARPy
If you are wearing something that the occasion or your station would not warrant.
>Costumey
If the above is true and your clothes also look cheap

>bad
This could be any number of things. If you're fat, if your clothes don't fit properly of if they're shabby. If you have a bad haircut or a patchy beard. If you ruin the outfit with a poorly-chosen piece (e.g. if you're at an event where traditional men's semi-formal is expected and you show up with everything else correct but you're also wearing workboots or basketball shoes)

>>

To me it looks like they all dropped out of the 1920s period ware.
Something about 4's body language. He has that "fish out of water" look.
The cuts look very outdated.
Double breasted navy suit and other very dark suits in what appears to be a tropical environment. #3 got it right here with a tobacco brown suit.
Too many accessories on most of them.

As someone who used to have to wear a tie professionally I don't understand why anyone would wear one casually. Unless you are at an important meeting, funeral, presentation, court appearance etc why would you?

>I don't understand why anyone would wear one casually
I think it's a very flattering look, and a good looking garment. Grew up watching my father wear suits everyday, even though he's a show owner and doesn't have to.
>>
>>18734522
>muh outdated
There's no such thing. What's "dated" or "in" is completely dependent on what the fickle normie hordes are doing right now. Wear whatever you want. If you're too much of a pussy to not be yourself and stand out by wearing what you like, then you don't belong on a fashion board. Suits and ties look good and give you a sharp and refined look. That's why people would choose to wear them casually, as they did for decades throughout the 19th and 20th century.

>Wear whatever you want!
The magic words that allow for all manner of ridiculous behavior and fashions to be tolerated in public, only said by those that wish to be free from the responsibility and judgement of their actions/ugly fashions.
>>
>>18734926
I will wear them when required though. I actually have a few nice ones from the Brooks Brothers Archival collection. Society is getting pretty backward. I was at a funeral a month ago and my son and I were the only two wearing suit + tie. People showed up in jeans and a polo shirt with sneakers, one guy with cargo shorts, hiking shoes, and a loud tropical shirt.

>>18734942
It doesnt change the fact most people will perceive you as wearing a costume and not take you seriously. You can wear nice clothes, look refined and not look like a clown. Like in the picture #4 looks like he is cosplaying as the fatfather from a mafia movie lol. I wear for example tweed sportcoats in the fall but with nicely fitted straight chinos. Dress shirt never has a tie and I unbutton the top collar. That is laid back looking while still elevating you to the top 10% of well dressed men.

*I should specify, #4 being in OP's pic, not the one you posted. In your pic I actually really like the sportcoat's on the black guy and the white guy with the leather elbow patches. Those look like vintage Brooks Brothers sportcoats. I have two similar ones in green herringbone tweed and gun club check I love to wear in the fall.
>>
>>18733509
Ugly as hell but sunglasses in the pocket square pocket might be a legit move
>>
>>18735171
>I actually have a few nice ones from the Brooks Brothers Archival collection
Can you post some pictures? I've read so much about the "classic american suit", but here in western Europe Italian and English styles reign supreme.
>>
>>18733509
Tge leftmost guy looks like he shrank two sizes. He should shrink his suit as well.
The guy to him looks like jedi larper meets horseback archer. I do think his clothes ard passable if they were another colour. Maybe he needs to ditch the boots and wear situation aware shoes.
Mr. brown suit guy has his hair matching his suit which is complimented by his light blue shirt and his darker brown shoes. He should loose a few pounds to slim down his face. I like the tie.
Second from the right is not salvagable I fear. His suit is to formal, his beard is too voluminous and so is he.
The guy on the right has his vertical lines and is upright, undynamic position making himnseam very upright and stationary which clashes with the rest of the guys

>only said by those that wish to be free from the responsibility and judgement of their actions/ugly fashions.

That's a retarded take; if anything, going against the grain opens you up to critique and criticism as you now have to put together a coherent fit that's outside the normal standards of dressing. You either do it well and pull it off or look like a fool.

Well, no, not no matter what. But cost of clothes has 0 correlation with how good someone looks, yeah.
>>
>>18735251
>going against the grain opens you up to critique and criticism
Same with going with the grain, nobody is exempt. To exist in relation to others is to be perceived, and with that comes the critique and criticism of everyone, no matter how ignorant/knowledgeable they may be

>Wear whatever you want.
Wrong
You wear whats appropriate to where you are.
You look like an idiot if you wear a suit going grocery shopping because grocery shopping is a casual event.
But you better be respectful and wear a suit to a funeral and not look like a retard who just threw on yesterdays clothes.

If you wanna look sharp, good looking and interesting for casual settings you better put in the work and build an actual outfit that suits a casual setting but still looks interesting.
Not just slap a suit on and think you're better than everyone else.

Do fags like you really believe that everyone that enjoys wearing a suit or tailored men's wear do it to feel superior and not just because they enjoy the clothing and the silhouette they provide? No wonder people are so butthurt every time this topic comes up.

Sounds like you need a therapy session; you want to tell us what a mean man in a suit told you once? Or have you been traumatized by the fact the fact the evil man always wears a suit in the movies.
>>
>>18736005
They’ll dress you like Costanza.
>>
>>18733509
Poorly tailored, overly “clean” sheen material (ex. polyester), lack of defining features (a sharp square suit doesn’t fit on a round faced or bodied man).
>>
>>18736283
As opposed to dressing like a nigger?

>>
>>18735966
It's called dressing for the occasion.
But you wouldn't understand that because you're a man child who wears whatever he wants where ever he wants even when its inappropriate.
You're like that dipshit fat guy wearing a hawaiian shirt to a funeral.
>>
>>18736512
Everyone dresses like a nigger now. Post a fit that isn't "Costanza" or negroid. Doesn't have to be your own. Pull it off the internet.

>far right has peaked lapels on a poop colored coat that's way too small for him with BOTH buttons buttoned making his midsection tiny and exposing his crotch. matching trousers suggests it's a SUIT but PATTERNS ARE NOT ALLOWED ON SUITS generally speaking nor are flap pockets although they're somewhat common anyway, suits are supposed to be made of a very specific fabric with solid colors and usually jetted pockets to look formal. this just looks like a sport coat with matching trousers. combined with some loafers that look like theyre double-soled and thus way too thick. the only shoes that are allowed with a dark suit are BLACK CAP TOE OXFORDS some deviation is acceptable for example black wingtip brogues like the church's chetwynd with a dark suit would slap. overall his outfit looks bad because it can't decide if it's formal or casual, but rather is an awkward hodgepodge of both

the others are kinda same deal the only one who didn't make any massive fundamental errors in menswear concepts is the guy in the light brown coat because at least his is unbuttoned showing it's a casual outfit, but he's FAT so he looks retarded and nobody likes that color
>>
>>18735265
black shoes looks so fucking terrible with anything other than black pants

It's a 3-button suit. You can button the top two or only middle.
