how does /fa/ feel about smart watches?practical or gauche?
they're pretty cringe but ok if you're using them to min-max your eating disorder, most people don't actually do that tho
I personally dont like them. You do you, though.
>>18741501There’s so much wrong about this photo.
>>18741501considered buying one at one point, now they kinda just make me think of some medical devicei think most people don’t even use them for anything
I wear a smartwatch most of the time for the health tracking, sleep tracking, gps, notifications and convenience then switch to nicer watches for work presentations, special occasions, that sort of thing.
>>18741501make sure your smart watch matches your kilt and fedora, you disgusting fatbody
>>18741501Definitely gauche in terms of aesthetic but that doesn’t mean it could not be practical also and usually those things are mutually inclusive if you think about it. Function over form type of thing.
Meh, I don't hate them and they do have functionality but I just think they look ugly. Plus I bought an analog watch to get away from checking my phone, notifications, that kind of stuff so the last thing I'd want is to have another phone on my wrist. If that's what you want though I ain't judging.
>>18741501what's that thing under the feet?
>>18741895It's a circulation booster. It uses small electrical pulses to stimulate muscle contractions in the feet and improve blood flow. It's often used by diabetics like the guy in OP's pic, to relieve the symptoms of diabetic peripheral neuropathy.
They're status symbols now so basically mandatory, same as iPhones.Ever if something else is better it's not better.
I have a suunto run, though I am currently trying to optimise my /fit/ness to hit numbers in a set timeframe, so I wear it to keep track of things like resting heart rate, step count, cal expenditure sleep and recovery, and tracking running and lifting.Keep in mind that they do track you and your health markers and that information is obviously being sold. So it's a case of >do you need it, or want it?>if yes, try to make it work>if no, save your money and don't get one

wearing this will make you an interesting person
I don't like 'smart' things. I have 2 brand new flat screen 'dumb' TVs still in the box so I will never have to own the other kind.I don't use a smartphone and I'd never wear one of the watches either. Probably couldn't without the phone to connect to it anyway. You kids play with all that shit if you want to. I don't need it.
>>18742097what is that, like an inert bracelet in the shape of a smart watch?“stone watch” is too generic of a term to turn up anything in a search.
>>18742112that's my understanding. it's just a polished stone shaped like a "smart" watch. i run into the same issue when searching.
>>18742103Imagine grown men wearing shitty little plastic toys on their wrists.
>>18742138grown men can wear what they want
>>18742147Just because you can, doesn't mean you should. It's called being an actual grown man with maturity, self-respect and dignity.
>>18742138
>>18742103i use mine for sleep tracking, but that's about it
>>18741501Smart watches are the epitome of tech for impressionable normies. A person wearing one indicates that they are so addicted to their smartphone that they need an even more visible terminal for the device installed even closer to their fingers than their pocket. There's nothing /fa/ about using a smart phone any more than is absolutely necessary.
It's consumer electronics. It's a smaller shittier version of your phone, on your wrist for screen addicts. Not only that but it gives a feeling of control to people "taking care of their health" or some bullshit like that, yet the people I see using them the most are either fat lards consuming sports gear instead of moving their asses, or nerdy scrawny tech adjacent retards. The real /fa/ and /fit/ move is to get away from screens as much as you can. So wear a Casio if you must, a $9.99 F91-W will always be better than the last Apple watch model>>18742934This anon sums it up perfectly
>>18741551this is about my general use as well but I'll wear my watch on my right hand or leg to continue min-maxing my fitness tracking while wearing a nicer traditional watchI'm considering getting an Apple Watch Ultra with a quality metal band to have the best of both worlds
>>18741501Used to wear one for notifications and to track my sleep but I don't actually need either on my wrist so I stopped. I think a Casio looks much better imo. More durable too.
>>18741501I wear one when I go out running or to the gym, any other time I wear a real watch. I think they look very tacky but they do have their uses for exercise related shit.
>>18741506the table with one chair outside in the porch is kino you will have to admit
>>18741501Why would you want something that watches you goyim?
problem is that the moment you do an actual blood panel, a real ecg, real bp cuff, then you have to submit to the fact that the watch fitness data to be mostly useless. It doesnt replace a phone so youll still carry one, and you still need real IDs so tap to pay isnt enough to get rid of wallet.step count is mostly a curiosity, and if you have something like a chest strap + phone you can do a cross-multiplication to get step count from any walk/run.
>>18741501Smartwatches are extremely gay and cringe.
>>18744320>>18744338yeah everyone always babbles about le fitness DATA but none of it is useful or meaningful in any way, and they're always fat as fuck
>>18741501They are fine if you are doing a workout, hiking etc but I think they don't look very fashionable.I personally dont like something that tracks everything about me. I dont like how everything is always connected these days. I would rather wear an analog watch and carry a dumb phone and keep the internet on my laptop.
>>18744401yes, and?
