reposting since the jannies are turbofaggotsis there any way to do it chat? long story short is a lot of my nicer clothes sat in storage for about a year and cooked in the hot summer. All the shoes were boxed and left in a corner but I recently grabbed them and noticed a lot of my calfskin shoes (Replica GATs, Common Projects, Ramones) were significantly tougher/rougher than they used to be before I put them in storageis there any way to restore the buttery soft calfskin? I threw some Saphir on them and let them sit while I cooked dinner and went for a workout and it helped some but the leather is still pretty tough?
>inb4 shoes on bedcopealso, the inside of the shoes are still pretty soft/smooth like the calfskin was before? It seems like only the outer upper has been affected on my of my shoes?
>>18743492Saphir renovateour I suppose? Apply some more and leave it overnight, if it doesn't work maybe you'll need heavier oils. Leave the suede alone
>>18743559I haven't touched the Suede, so yeahThe GATs probably got it the worstI have Bick 4 that I'm going to try overnight as wellThe Common Projects have it only a littleLuckily the Ramones don't feel too rough at allI busted a few of my boots out as well to condition while I was working on these shoes alreadyI figured might as well I guessMoral of the story I guess is just try not to leave more fragile/expensive clothes in a hot storage unit for an extended time (I didn't really have a choice but also could've probably sold everything and bought it back with the rental savings from the unit but oh well)
You need to deep hydrate the leather a leather moisturiser. You can use a leather cream and a leather cleaning spray that is made for sofas. You need to them hydrated and always wet for probably 2 weeks and keep them somewhere cool away from sunlight. Check on them every 2 hours to begin with. Youd be surprised by how thirsty leather can be they will, to begin with just aborb anything you use in like an hours time.Massage them too. After 2 weeks and they arnt absorbing anymore use the correct colour shoe polish to lock it in and protect the leather. For the suede you can get a suede renovator, however seude can be pretty low quality in the first place so the change may be minor despite your best efforts. However you have expensive shoes so you should be ok.

Wear a mask if you’re gonna do them all at once btw, the turpentine in this shit will smell nice but it will kill your brain.
