How the fuck am I supposed to know what watch to buy when there are literally 1 billion different models and brands of watch which all look the fucking same?

When I look in the window of a jewellery store I see loads of generic watches but I just know that if I just pick one I like the look of, thousands of people are going to come out of the woodwork to call me a faggot and a poor

I can't go to Tiktok, Youtube, r*eddit, or any website for actual advice because every single person who has ever written an article or produced a video on watches is an insufferable bald onions funkopop collecting cuck who unironically recommends buying something which costs the same as a new car as "entry level" when my phone tells the time just as good.

If I go to /o/ people will unironically give good advice like "buy a toyota camry" or something. Watchfags are like "just save up until you get get a Rolex oyster unlimited perpetual submariner with a swiss cheese movement they're only $28,000"

It's called having taste and personal style, retard. And if you are too much of a pussy to wear what you want without worrying about random people's opinions, then you don't belong on a fashion board.

Don't show your watch here if you're sensitive.
But should you choose to, NEVER, EVER give a fuck what these stupid retards think of your watch.

It really is as simple as just buying whatever looks good to you. Ignore the Rolex posting snobs. They definitely do not represent the majority of the watch-wearing, watch-buying community. Statistically they are a tiny minority even if there are like four of them on this board. They're very vocal here but that also tells you they're huge fucking losers.

What kind of rich, successful, happy person would spend his time looking down on people for ONLY paying several hundred dollars for a wrist clock? lol, just think about that when you read their pathetic insults.
And keep in mind it's a strong possibility the watch is a replica anyway.
>>
>>18746301
>ecommends buying something which costs the same as a new car as "entry level"

Your image is doing the opposite of that though. You can get some sweet watches for $250. Detach your brain from the illogical, snobby suggestions of luxury brands and remember what a Timex or a Casio costs and then realize that for something that just tells you what time it is, $250 sounds rather steep. Get a quartz watch you think looks good and never come back here again and you'll be very happy.
Once you open yourself up to insults and let them bother you they've won. It's not about the watch at all. It's about theirs and your insecurities. Never let these fags get to you.

Watches are just a way to display wealth, that's all male jewelry is. Buy a visibly expensive rolex or don't wear one at all, anything else just makes you look like a poor nerd.

If you want a quality watch the first thing you do is learn what the meaning of "chronometer" is and how that's determined. Then look at companies that offer those and learn a bit of their histories to see who's still legit and who's been bought by private equity and are just faking it now.

Once you've spent that 15 minutes of research you can look at the offerings of the company you like best, choose the watch you like out of that and wear it with pride. Fuck anybody else that doesn't agree with you.

Watches are one of the few accessories/jewelry that men can traditionally wear. A man needs a watch to be considered a working member of society, getting your first watch when you're a teen is a rite of passage.

Watches are functional precision instruments, they keep you organized and literally on time throughout the day, this is the reason quartz (watches) still exist.

As you progress in life you want to signal your elevated social status with a finer timepiece, something more than a mere timekeeper. In this stage of life time is not essential, you don't need to be in your wagie cage within the second. That is why people acquire, or as I like to say, meet mechanical timepieces. Watches such as Omega, Tudor and Rolex.

In a professional or any environment with affluent males, your watch is your Curriculum Vitae, your rank in a way. People will know you had to go further in life than your average poorfaggot mathlete to acquire a fine Patek for example.

Now I don't know your age, but could you imagine being over 25 and wearing a wagie poorfag incel seething bitter faggot lardass brainlet quartz watch in a serious environment? I don't think so, you'll be giving yourself away as a absolute loser in life and people will think there's something seriously wrong with you and wonder why you're even there with your cheap shitter piece of shit nasty crusty chinese watch.

Trust me, you don't want to be part of the quartz horde. Join the ranks of the men with sophistication and class and meet your mechanical watch. Discard your nasty wagie faggot ass piece of shit computer chip "watch".

My Tudor pic was my first post in this thread. I was just walking by a homeless encampment of hobos screaming and kvetching already, throwing feces up onto the bridge, and I flicked a penny into one of their tents to watch them go even crazier. I'm hardly the instigator here.

Some people want to be able to honestly discuss watches without worrying about the feelings of people who own those watches.
Others just want this place to be a sewer.

Maybe I’ve just been here too long, but Mortadello (as annoying as he was) or Reverso Anon were both wealthy but never flexed and made fun of people with less money. They were also the least conscious of making sure other users believed that they were rich.

You should know better then....half the "you're poor" posts aren't even made by the people with the actual expensive watches. It's people trolling pretending to be the other anons. Sometimes the kvetching and screeching is so insane, that there's an OP thread that's literally just poor REEEING (this one exactly). Like I said, I'll post a pic of a Tudor or something just to throw a firecracker into the raging bonfire as I walk by, because it's par for the course. I'm just matching the environment, and this place is a music festival portopotty covered in puke and liquid shit (literal shit in the other /wt/ thread)
>>
>>18746439
>LV box is very low class, very gauche. Are you black?
Nah, it was a present from a boss who knew I was into watches. I kinda dig it honestly, it has design flaws and is a fun conversation piece. It's like the AliX of watch boxes. Not everything is meant to be serious.

don't buy an expensive watch, its not worth it. I have a client who makes 10 million a year, he wears a casio as his daily. Who does he need to impress? So that's the actual rich guy ethos.
>>
>>18746472
Bro, they are Fabrice Paul Journé watches, they are worth 70K each
>>
>>18746474
>Who does he need to impress?
Why does everyone harp on this? I'm sure some people are trying to peacock to others.... But to assume that's everyones sole motivation to buy an expensive watch is really conceited.
>>
>>18746486
>Why does everyone harp on this?
Because people don't seem to learn the lesson.

It seems like every other week some newfag shows up, posts a pic of his watch, and expects everyone ITT to give him (You)s and declare that he's based. And every single time, either no one responds or they tease him. Then he spends the next couple weeks to months (even years, if they're severely disabled) getting mad as fuck and trolling the thread and calling everyone poor.

It doesn't matter if the watch cost a lot of money to you personally. There's always someone richer. For a perfect example, in this thread, >>18746395 tried to show off and he immediately got swatted down by >>18746406. From there on, the guy got pissy and defensive and posted a fake LV box and a fake VC 222 as an attempt to prove that he's not actually "poor".

Buy the watch that you like with the mindset that only you will ever like that watch. That way, you won't feel compelled to try to get into an competition that is unwinnable because it exists entirely in your own head.
>>
>>18746488
The LV box was already in his original tudor post
And how do we know the VC 222 is fake? Why is every expensive watch here assumed to be a fake? You seem to be irrationally conflating the defensive mentality with some kind of "poverty is a virtue" mentality
>>
>>18746488
>It seems like every other week some newfag shows up, posts a pic of his watch, and expects everyone ITT to give him (You)s and declare that he's based. Then he spends the next couple weeks to months (even years, if they're severely disabled) getting mad as fuck and trolling the thread and calling everyone poor.
It's not that they don't learn the lesson. Everyone thinks that they (and their watches) are special and will be the exception to the rule. That's why they always get so angry.
>>
>>18746488
By this "logic" then the moser and cie and any watch over $1k is fake

>>
>>18746516
Why are you screaming? And why would anyone insist that behavior common on one website be the same everywhere else?
>>
>>18746514
The Moser is not a fake. That guy has posted it before and has posted movement shots.
>>
>>18746520
It's a behavior common in the mentally normal world.
>Gathering of enthusiasts of XXX
>Have nice XXX
>Share XXX
>"Oh anon, nice XXX"

This is the normal behavior in any enthusiast group, whether it's cars, rare books or animu figurines, or whatever else.

The normal behavior is not saying POORFAG or SHITTERS and posting your turds as an answer.
>>
>>18746522
Anon, the point of being anonymous is exactly so we can be critical of a watch without having to worry about hurting someone's feelings.

In the normal world if someone posts a watch, you say "Nice watch" even if you, personally don't like it.
If you're anonymous, you can say, "I don't like the hands" or "It's too thick" or "The finishing is crude" or whatever. You can actually express your honest opinion.
That's exactly why, if you're the type of person who cannot handle any criticism whatsoever, you should never post your own watch. Some people cannot handle honesty
I'll wager that the vast majority of the ones screaming about poorfags and shitters are guys who posted their watches and received either mild criticism or, worse, no reaction at all. They're just sticking around to ruin everyone else's experience
>>
>>18746524
>I'll wager that the vast majority of the ones screaming about poorfags and shitters are guys who posted their watches and received either mild criticism or, worse, no reaction at all.

I had a client come in last week with a steel royal oak and then a client came in with some other AP that was limited edition something or other that cost like 100K more.

OP just buy a watch you will wear. If you run in fancy circles you may need to buy a fancy watch to avoid getting made fun of but getting made fun of isnt that big of a deal, honestly. I wear a casio and I get made fun of for it by some people but oh well my wife is hotter. Its all a circle.

Only immature and insecure people are concerned with money. Especially on an anonymous forum like this.

If someone calls you "poor" because of your watch, he's very insecure in his life and likely hates himself. No one with joy in his life ever tore anyone down needlessly.

A quartz timex is more accurate and shock/vibration/orientation resistant than the most expensive rolex

Mechanical watches are nerd jewelry. Nothing else. No one cares except for a small entirely male, entirely nerdy, and 75%+ gay demographic where the last 25% is all suburban boomers that think they are impressively wealthy because they have a lien on a BMW. But the suburban boomers also extend into the gay segment.

People who just want to tell time without looking retarded or looking at their phone just buy whatever cheap quartz watch looks cool on them.
