>>18748867Please tell me he's not Indian. Is he Arab, Nafri or Turk?
>>18748876He’s a white French-Canadian. He’s just a bit wigga cause he loves rap music and Chinese takeouts
>>18748859>LDDM/ACDDThey do project and last but I wouldn't consider them beast mode, they fill the space but are not in your face.>Oud IspahanI was going to say this isn't beast mode but I do spray very diligently, still this is pretty tame by what's out there.Overall I'm glad I asked, when people say "beast mode" I think of Montale, Mancera, and Arab fragrances. From the looks of it the Amouages you mentioned are what I would consider beast mode but I have never tested them and likely wont because I avoid beast mode fragrances. Some of the others you mentioned are what I would consider "good", or "very good", performers. Other than Oud Ispanhan, the only thing in my collection I would consider close to beast mode is Portrait of a Lady. They are still very wearable and easy to tone down so I would not go as far to call them beast mode. That's just my definition, which is why I'm glad I asked.>$300>ormonde jayneI'll be honest with you, I didn't know they made anything over $200. My only experience with the brand are some travel sprays my sister showed me and they all smelled thin, synthetic, and cheap. I would never touch the brand, again, just me.
>>18748878>loves rap music and Chinese takeoutsJust fuck him already!
>>18748880To me beastmode means lasting throughout the whole day and then some, and having decent projection for a good four to six hours. Maybe that's not the actual definition though.>I do spray very diligentlyI had a friend who wore it a lot, I could definitely smell him across the room for hoursYeah I've never tried Montale or Mancera, some of the Montale stuff seems interesting but it's not a priority, and people say they smell cheap as fuck so I'm reluctant to try them.I think if the fragrance requires you to not go above two sprays to avoid being overpowering (like POAL from what I remember) it definitely qualifies>I didn't know they made anything over $200MI is 330. It's nostalgic to me because it smells like a combination of cigarettes and shaving cream, reminds me of my dad when I was a kid, but yeah people tend overhype this brand a little too much.
>>18748884>the fragrance requires you to not go above two sprays to avoid being overpoweringThat's a very good working definition. It works for major brands but then Arab and clone houses just blow it out the water.
>>18748887Clones are that strong? The only one I ever bought, and quickly got rid of, was Oud for Glory, and I would say the performance was average.I'm also never sure to what extent the people who go "oh this is exactly like the original" can be trusted.
>>18748888Checked, I'm the furthest from a clones expert but they usually go for performance because that is what their clients prioritize. It's trivial today to get cheap aromachemicals that last forever. The difficult part is making something that lasts a long time and smells good.
>>18748890>The difficult part is making something that lasts a long time and smells good. The great tragedy of perfumery is that some of the best scent profiles have inherently terrible performance
>>18748874>he hops on mine>play on his consoleInnuendo is getting so blatant nowadays.
>>18748896I understand who want/demand amazing performance. I just wish they understood that when you make a fragrance last longer it wont smell as good. All perfumery is is the skill of breaking the limits of smells by making them last as long as possible. There are always sacrifices along the way.
Choose one.
>>18748908New York Intense all day every day (t. Nicolai shill)
Be honest, sweet vanilla frags are your favorite you just refuse to admit it because you want to act cool and contrarian.
>>18748908Floris ELITE
>>18748914Le Male Elixir is unrefined even though the opening is okay thanks to the mint.Naxos is really good though.Another nice vanilla frag is Noir Extreme
>>18748914I’ll wear the fuck out of vanilla. Vanilla smells good and I want to smell good.My ideal fragrance would make me smell like a cafe that makes their desserts in house.
>>18748916Noir Extreme is the only frag that got me a compliment irl (that wasn't from my mom or sister).
>>18748914i dont like any of those fragrances
>>18748908+1 for New York Intense (BdP is mid asf even without considering its price, for some reason i really dislike the Caron and i'm not (yet) familiar with the Lalique)>>18748914no, i have like two sweet vanilla frags (out of ~150), i like them both (EP Divine Vanille, Nicolai Vanille Tonka) but they are not in my all time top10(+ i don't consider Naxos or Ultra Male as vanilla frags desu)
>>18748908Lalique Pour Homme valuemoggs New York Intense
Whats your fragrance pet peeve?Mine is when I have to handle a bottle with gloves because they are fingerprint magnets.
>wearing my Tauer>have a W fit on>paying for my coffee at the cafe and heading out>qt starts talking to me>says my perfume smells really good and my outfit is great>I'm completely taken off guard>never received a straight forward compliment like that from a woman before>literally stumble for 3 seconds saying nothing like some bitch>bounce back a bit after and have some small talk>don't even introduce myself or get her name>just tell her to enjoy her time and maybe we'll see each other another timeI am in fucking shambles. I literally get a free alley-oop and just gotta dunk the ball and I butter finger the whole situation. God literally handed me the mother of my children and I cuck out. Shout out Tauer I guess...
>>18748936was it really an alley oop or was it just a foid giving you a compliment
>>18748908NYI > Le 3e Homme > Bois du Portugal > Lion
>>18748937When do women ever get the courage to hit on guys randomly like that? Fucking never. I'm not an autistic ugly piece of shit, but I'm not a turbo Chad by any means. It's not expected that this would be a common occuranse. How many foids give you compliments on a daily basis? She was also wifey material at a first glance. Not dressed like a whore. No makeup. Sweet and pleasant attitude, White skin, blue eyes. Holy shit I'm so retarded for fumbling that shit.
>>18748908Le 3e > NYI > Lion > Bois
>>18748908NYI but, honestly, the original, non-"intense" New York is better.Of that style, though, I'd rather have Chanel Pour Monsieur or Givenchy Gentleman (1974).
>>18748896>spray it>it smells like the material of the clouds in heaven>its gone before it even reaches your skinFrag for this feeling?
>>18748939It's also possible she was in a good mood and decided to spread the good vibes around. A simple compliment out of nowhere can really brighten someone's day.Actually, the way you handled it might actually work in your favor. She might thinking>He was able to accept a compliment and chat a little without being a fucking creep. I hope I see him again.
>>18748936>just tell her to enjoy her timeOof.
>>18748914Sweet Vanilla is a god tier construction, but the shovelwave nature of fragrance has meant that everything popular (especially sweet vanilla) has turned into slop for children, so it's too sweet and too vanilla. The best sweet vanilla is only slightly sweet and crisp vanilla, not the cakey ice-creamy vanilla. Best is Spiritueuse Double Vanille. Mercedes Benz club black has the same vibe, but does not come close in terms of density of notes / depth of smell.
>>18748945I ESL translated it. More like enjoy your coffee/have a good one.>>18748944Damn, that's such a glass is half full ass way of looking at it. I'm more worried that she made a big leap, because girls never do that, and I disrespected her effort by not even introducing myself and getting her name. The most basic of human interactions. She probably thought I thought she was ugly or that I'm gay.
>>18748609>>18748764>SantalI am not huge fan of sandalwood. Serge worsens this for me by adding sweetness to the frag, as I don't like cacao. I only bought it for someone else as I already have a half bottle that I bought for a similar price; which in itself I only purchased because I was doing a large order of SL frags and figured an extra 40-50 dollars wouldn't kill me. I'm bad to ask about this one as a result because I inherently just don't enjoy the main draw of the fragrance in the first place. >HermannI like this. It's essentially a very rose forward blue when you initially spray it, then it dries down into being spicier, woodier (almost like dried leaves), and the fruit shows up with a bit of earthiness but nothing off-putting. The rose is still there, it just drops back, and it generally still feels like a floral (soil and all) blue with some sweetness mixed in. I'd say it's a good unisex fragrance, you can probably wear it most of the year. I need to see how good its' staying power is though, but those are my thoughts on first blush.
>>18748943Virgin Island Water
Sup /frag/ it's been forever, recs for a floral + citrus + maybe aquatic scent? Why the fucc do I have to wait and fill a captcha now, what is this?
>>18748958Feds raided this place, Moot is in the files. Welcome back.
Any masstige stuff that is worth trying? All snobbery aside
Accords that make me bite my lip:>amber>smoky>leather>balsamic>woody>musky>violet (not iris)>tobacco>herbal>rumWhat’s yours?
>>18748943Comme des Garcons Incense Kyoto
>>18748908Etruscan Water (Bois du Portugal)
>>18749002wut
>>18748908Haven’t smelled the Creed, but would still pick NYI. I own Lion, but never really use it because I don’t care for the iris. Third Man is a really close second, really enjoy it. Creed would be a distant fourth, mostly because of the price, but also because of Creed being bullshit in general.
Any frags that smell like female asian feet?
>>18749019Nicolai Musc Intense>t. knower
Today I learned that my 1 week old frankincense resin has dissolved in jojoba oil after im going to drink it because google said Egyptians did. Ill update if I end up in a hospital.
>>18749019Kouros
Suggest me something similar to Bohemian Lime but cheaper.I really like the scent but I feel there should be something cheaper out there since it is so "simple"
this is such a weird fragrance. sometimes it smells like spearmint sometimes it smells like pussy, sometimes it smells like a warm blanket. and it lasts forever. what is this wizardry?
>>18749053How cheap do you want? I can find it for just under 1.25$ a ml right now. It’s a good frag, if you can’t afford that perhaps you shouldn’t be here.
>>18749058Where did you look for it? I'm in Europe and couldn't find it for that cheap (we dont have jomashop), maybe I should look harder.Anyway I just assumed there would be something similar for cheaper since the scent profile is simple.
>>18749061Hm, I’m in the US. FragranceBuy (Canada) has it for 159 CAD. Their US based alternative has it for the other price I quoted. And it may seem simple but it has really good longevity for a citrus freshie and a somewhat unique profile. There’s like one clone out there that I know of, but you really shouldn’t resort to that.
>SOTD - Yuzu FouA true summer banger. Might be one of the best citrus frags I own. And for whatever reason nets me more compliments than anything else I wear lol.
>>18749055i think it's due to the Iso E Super that reacts with your skin chemistry
What’s the dry down of Terre d’Hermes like?I don’t have the option to sample it near me but its available at my TJ Maxx for $65~ and while I could afford to blind buy it I’d like to at least get some frame of reference for what I’d be purchasing
>>18749075i had a decant of molecule 01 and it had nowhere near the effect of another 13. iso e super smelt just like pencil shavings to me
Just ordered a few decants, finally gonna try Megamare. God I love marine scents.>>18748914Tobacco Vanile is one of my favorite frags but it almost negates the others because why would you want anything else. Also I don't know why Althair is so hyped when it's a pretty common scent profile, It's well made but I'd rather stick with TF.>>18748932>i don't consider Naxos or Ultra Male as vanilla fragsSame, I have to search for the vanilla in Ultra Male when I'm wearing it, I get the pear and lavender with the woody drydown but that's about it.>>18748987Tiziana Terenzi is decent
will i smell better if i remove my nose hair
>>18749084yeah good point. could be that + the other musks but idk. it's been a while since i tried it but ive been looking for a nice skin scent so i might go check it out this week
>>18749118nope. you can use nose strips instead. will be less painful too lol
>>18749118No, your nose hairs help you smell.
most chud coded fragrance?
Paco Rabanne 1 Million Dead Niggers
>>18748989>oud>musky>warm spicy>fresh spicy>woody>aromatic
Guys, I just found out I have Peter Pan Syndrome (hate being an adult, wants to be a child again). Fragrance with this feel?
>>18749192Fantasia by Ana Sui
>>18748989All of the above +>oud>patchouli>rose>bergamot >jasmine>iris>gardenia>vetiver >sandalwood>incense>myrrh>frankincense >tea>black currant>red pepper>aquatic/oceanic/ozonic >citrus Pear, Coconut (if natural and not sunscreen), and Marshmallow also depending on how it’s used.Basically just hate straight gourmand. Love a mature amber/middle eastern frag, freshie, chypre, white floral, or flormaund.
>>18749192>>18749193Adding, Fantasia is an obviously feminine leaning fragrance. Morning Rain by Oakcha, which is a supposed dupe for Gypsy Water, smells like a more unisex or masculine version of Fantasia. Very playful, bright forest smell. Fantasia leans more into the childlike candy sweetness. Depends if you want something literally childish or more wearable for every day/occasion.
>>18748936It is not a missed opportunity. You set up the closure of the deal already, anon. Next time you see her, you slam the contract on the table.
>>18749196Anon, he said accords not notes.
>>18749201My bad, but how does one even know which notes are accords or not unless they’re IN perfumery or the perfumer tells you?
>>18748958Welcome back, brother. Glowniggers have taken over most of the boards, which are now more or less dead as a result. /frag/ continues the mission to smell good despite all odds>SOTD HalfetiFeels oriental man
>>18749027BasedKeep us posted
>>18749079Dries down to a nice woody and slightly earthy vetiver. If you like vetiver & cedar, you'll enjoy it
>>18749118The opposite. You want really long nosehairs that act like like antennae/feelers. They will whisk the scent particles into your nose more effectively. Try to put some hair growth oil or something in your nose and you will upgrade the overall scent level of your nose. You will become a nose wizard.
>>18749209There’s definitely a threshold bc too long of nose hairs basically impairs breathing and acts as a booger net. Good luck, anon.
What did I think of it?
Blind boughted YSL MYSELF EdP what am I in for?

>>18749204It's all made up, everything you listed can literally be classified as an accord.
>>18749236>has never happened in human historyTell that to my dad.
>>18749227>>18749231Not like this bwos...
Finally got my ass to an LV store and smelled Imagination It’s good, really good in fact. That said I don’t think it’s office-appropriate, personally, the tea note is just too much of a Thing That Doesn’t Belong. At the same time it’s such a big part of the dry down that i feel it might as well not be the same frag without it. Amazing weekender frag no doubt but 9:35 am on a Tuesday morning? I’m struggling to see the vision. Other than BdC is there anything at all that comes close to an evergreen office frag that doubles as a serious compliment getter?
>>18749243Depends on your taste. I tested MYSLF in store and I was expecting more. It’s just a modern neroli with a designer name on it. I got the absolu on a free tester and it was OK.

>>18748935Getting sick, I can't smell properly if at all. My main motivation to staying healthy is being able to smell my fragrances.
>>18749309>I might buy a bottle of H24 too, I'm not sure I love it but I keep coming back to itSame (albeit with the EdP). I dislike the opening, but after the first ten minutes, it's great all day.
>>18748914My most vanilla scent is Angel Men which I really like but I consider it mainly a sweet patchouli scent. Vanilla is great ingredient for taming a fragrance and making it smooth, even when it's not a dominant note. I respect vanilla and like to smell it on my woman but it's a significant part of my collection. Most natural, high quality vanilla I have ever smelled is Tauer Heraud in the base but the ambrox ruins it for me.
>>18749340>I dislike the opening, but after the first ten minutes, it's great all day.Maybe consider not buying it. I don't get people who act like there aren't unlimited perfume options. Why force yourself and miss out on something you might like better?
>>18749344>Why force yourself and miss out on something you might like better?Because nothing else smells like H24 and I like the steam-iron scent. I can live with the gummi bears opening.

Is there patchouli in DHI? 2011 specifically. My sample smell like chocolate after an hour, this isn't vanilla right?
>>18749460there is a cacao note usually listed. patchouli isn't listed, but it's probably there too. yes, it's chocolaty
>>18749461That makes sense. Patchouli to me smells more like dark chocolate, more rooty in quality. I also remember a perfumer saying there's vanilla in it but Dior doesn't want to disclose it in note breakdown because iris + vanilla might alienate male consumers.
Besides wrists and inner elbow what other areas can I use for testing my samples?
Anyone know any fragrances that are reminiscent of the open sky, horizons, vastness, but that aren't weak or barely present (like molecule 01 or whatever)I tried LADAS but I didn't like it, it was too powdery and laundry-like. Maybe I want something ozonic but not too light?A frag that is to the sky what Megamare is to the ocean I guess
>>18749462there's definitely vanillin in there. vanilin and patchouli are extremely common unlisted ingredients in perfumes

>>18749500For what it's worth I didn't find Viride to be particularly photorealistic, but Megamare isn't really either. It's a pleasant, if somewhat bitter, green herbal scent. If you want something forest-like you'd probably be better off sampling from Pineward.Haven't tried Terroni

I'm not even talking dupes, just decent designers or cheaper masstiges that are good. I've tried a few Initios that are very good, Oud for Greatness Neo, Psychedelic Love, but I'd rather get 3 different frags before giving $300 for one of those. Also, there are many contrarians on /frag/ so always try the frags for yourself instead of relying on the opinions of retards
>>18749532True, but there's a bunch of masstige frags that don't have perfect dupes or equivalents.
>>18749522>>18749309no Bel Ami (og)? Is it still worth trying today?
>>18749542PdE Eau de Gloire for me which is awesome and very close to Bel Ami
>>18749532Name some cheaper masstige alternatives then.I don't want dupes or designers and all the masstiges I know are expensive-ish.
>>18749385None of these other fags are old enough to remember this being popular. Very strong, in your face, unapologetically masculine.
>>18749513>I hope you mean the intense flanker"normal" Rien, I have no problem with it, I'll probably buy Rien II if I manage to use up my 30ml (not likely in the near future)>>18749413I like it
>>18749546i think he meant>wtf, only 5 sprays?sissyspraying is not tolerated around here>SOTD: PdE Mal-Aimeluv me some weeds
>>18749505>Cool WaterGlade brand air freshener>Moustachevery unisex ambery vanilla>Encre Noirepeak cheap vetiver
>pick up from random indie brand I saw at a garden show>janky labels and wholesale bottles, try anyway>mind fucking blown by quality >walk around in the heat for another 5 hours and fragrance remains strong Got a few, but my favourite pickup from her stall is this creamy cold green botanical that doubles as effective bug repellant. >Rhubarb – Grapefruit – Orange – Raspberry Leaf - Spearmint>Sweet Pea – Pepper – Custard – Rose – Magnolia>Oak Moss – Patchouli – AmberRandom as fuck combo but I’m huffing it. Anybody else have any luck lately with random indie brands?
>>18749542never smelled the OG, just the vetiver flanker. I hear it's very similar though. they kind of just wanted a modern version with some banned ingredients swapped out
I really like this but find it girly.I'm a roided /fit/ powerlifter I can't be caught wearing this...
>>18749543Notes look pretty good. Are the leather and tobacco noticeable, or pretty subtle?>>18749551I smelled BA Vetiver as well and found it more spicy than expected. I'm only really interested in the o.g. if the leather comes off stronger.
>>18749306TdH edt, TdH edp, H24 Herbes Vives, H24 edt.>>18749348Yes but it doesn't last anything.SOTD: Spice Must Flow
>>18749553they are noticeable, but well balanced with the other (citrus+aromatic) notes
>>18749524That's because women like BdC. It's that simple. I don't like it either, but it works. I will wear SWYI instead because I don't mind that and it gets as much attention. Ideal is also a good pick, so is Eau Sauvage. If you ignore the obvious shill plants, the list of frags women like men to wear you can find on Fragrantica is fairly solid because you can just buy a few of those and then go back to your autistic collecting. Also, some women like tobacco but usually not harsher stuff like Black Afgano. Tabac Exquis is a good one if you're looking for a tobacco frag that women will also enjoy because it's sort of like Pour Un Homme de Caron where it's supposed to be a lavender frag but it's really a vanilla one with lavender in it.
>>18749563>That's because women likestopped reading right there senpai
>lower caps PdE posters are shills anon hasn't shown up yet to bitchConfirmed for Indian?
>>18749563Hey man, do women generally like guys who have all their hair or do they like guys who look like they post in the /balding/ general? We're speaking in generalities. All frags serve a purpose and a function. Sometimes that's purely utilitarian, in this case, frags like BdC are purely utilitarian because they're terrible but women like it on guys.
>>18749568Annndddd I missed. >>18749564
>>18749550Sounds like something my mom would wear. I really like the gardeny, alice in the wonderland vibes of 2000s perfumery. I had to save the JM Nectarine Honey Blossom she was taking out.
>>18749563I like BdC for the smell but refuse to wear it because I don't want to be associated with people like you who only wear it to appeal to women.
>>18749545Maybe it was when it was released, it’s not like it is anymore. Material bans and progressive tweaks over the years have left it a shadow. >>18749389I have broken out T-Rex in a minute. It’s nearly 80°F outside and humid af because it was raining, but I think I’m gonna put some on and go out to dinner with the gf. >Thanks for the reminder fren
You guys ever hug your homie and love his scent so much you bury your face in his chest?
>>18749573no, that would be gay
>>18749571What's a frag you like to wear that isn't BdC?
>>18749394sotd encre noire 21 sprays
>>18749394Same>SOTD: Antaeus, 13 sprays
>>18749544being expensive is a defining aspect of masstige. there are plenty of good brands, designer or niche that produce great things at reasonable prices
>>18749586Just because something is expensive doesn't mean it's bad and it especially doesn't mean that you can find something better or identical at a lower price
>>18749579Jason Schreier. He consistently presses devs to the point where they won't give him interviews anymore since he'll ask them more than the "waow bing bing wahoo" tier questions, and then he'll go talk to their employees and write articles about what the hell is actually going on. I don't think there is a single major dev that allows their employees to talk to the guy because he'll actually protect his sources and he goes through the effort of vetting them so he doesn't get tricked into printing lies.
>>18749587thats not at all what im saying. you asked for a cheap masstige brand, but one of the defining aspects of masstige is its high price point in relations to the quality or uniqueness it offers
>>18749394>46 sprays of Platinum EgoisteI'm ready for the heat
>>18749589Oh my bad I'm not the guy you answered to, I guess I can't read
>>18749586Maybe I don't understand what masstige means as a word I guess I just meant niche.I want something good and not too expensive (no more than 200$ per 100ml for example) that isn't some arab clone and isn't a popular designer.
>>18749601200 is the lower end of niche prices, look at stuff from Serge Lutens, Tauer, ELDO, etc
>>18749563>Ideal is also a good pick,Do you mean Guerlain L'Homme Ideal or Maison Margiela Ideal One?
>>18749601yeah no stress. masstige is something that fronts as a luxury good with luxury prices that provides a mid product. as the other poster said, Serge Lutens and ELDO are good niche brands you can find for cheap on discounters. i'd add Acqua di Parma, though some frags suffer from poor performance, Francesca Bianchi if you like animalic stuff. Nicolai is also pretty reasonably priced. some people might say the house is not all that, but NYI mogs a lot of frags out there.
>>18749608>some people might say the house is not all thatnot me tho, there are many great nicolai frags>t. nicolai shill
>>18749608>provides a mid productDepends on what you're looking for
>>18749610masstige is perfect for you if you're looking for grossly overpriced mid (or outright shit) frags marketed for aspirational teenagers and/or brown dudes
>>18749611See this kind of nonsense is exactly why people looking for advice should not take /frag/ seriously.
