How can I incorporate a poncho into my fits without it coming off as too larpy?
>>
you don't

Wear the poncho, the high value women will love it. The lame ones (retard foids) won't.

>>
>>18751482
The hat is one of film's great mysteries. No one know anything about it and most people believe Clint just bought it secondhand or from a local store for the wardrobe
But you can get replicas easy. It's basically a telescope crown western hat with a pencil roll

short answer: you don't. ponchos are simply too costumey. no one is going to see it as part of an outfit, they will just see the poncho and be "haha yoooo sick poncho" and then you're just the poncho guy.
>>
I've discovered the rule for wearing western wear without coming off as larpy/costumey
Unless you're an actual cowboy working on a ranch, limit yourself to one piece of western wear per fit.
Cowboy boots with jeans and a shirt? Looks fine. Cowboy boots with jeans and a pearl snap western yoke shirt? Hmm, getting kinda larpy
A poncho might be able to work if you keep this in mind. Wear a poncho with "regular" clothes and it might look like like a stylistic choice. Wear one with a cowboy hat? Or cowboy boots? You're in full on larp territory
>>
>>18753800
i knida feel the same. i personally really enjoy western snap shirts with jeans, but wear them with chelseas. i think if i went as far as getting cowboy boots, it would come off as a costume like you said.
>>
>>18749011
Easiest way is to just you wear it in appropriate weather (snowy or lightly rainy days), it's going to look larpy no matter what. Even in the south/south west, where it's still a little culturally acceptable to dress with a western style, wearing a cowboy hat makes you look like you are larping. Just don't give a fuck, wear what you want. Neo-westerns are cool as fuck, anytime you do anything outside of the norm it will take some experimentation until you're able to find what works for you, get fully comfortable, and refine the look.
>>
Are Stetsons actually good hats? I kinda like the Bozeman 250 but I'm not really a hat guy and don't really do anything that warrants wearing one. I'd definitely go and try it on in person first but idk how to tell a good hat from a bad hat.

as with anything it depends on your budget. how much are you willing to spend?
tecovas is actually very good value for the price for a lot of their models.
and don't get caught up on made in usa vs made in mexico. mexico has a very strong cowboy boot tradition and makes some excellent stuff from brands like chisos (will probably be my next boots) and unmarked, while usa brands like lucchese are selling dogshit for $1k+. i have some made in usa tony lamas that are objectively inferior to my tecovas for half the price
i do not like exotics, personally. not interested in ostrich or caiman and not willing to spend for croc or aligator

i live in texas so my idea of "western wear" is probably different from someone in a flyover or even worse, some urbanite coastal fag.
most people you see wearing cowboy hats, western shirts, wranglers and cowboy boots are either actual ranch owners or larpers wearing a costume.
if they're ranch owners they're probably rich as fuck boomers driving enormous giant pickup trucks. these people own the ranch but don't work it, they hire people for that. but still wear the outfit everywhere
or they're larpers. go to the fort worth stockyards on any random day of the year and you'll see people everywhere dressed up in a costume with their boots and their hats and their snap shirts tucked in. they're just playing dress up, and that's fine i don't mind. the best part is the women wearing daisy dukes that get swallowed up their asses and little tank tops. goddamn i could be such a filthy coomer if i wanted

Yes? Man I really don't get your hang up on western wear. You seem to have a lot of internal rules about who's allowed to wear western style clothes and when. Western wear is just a type of traditional Americana, like greasers/rockabilly and stuff. Pearl snaps, winged yokes and embroidery are not workwear. People can just like the style and wear it.

So can I. So can millions of people. You do realize that there has been over 16 generations in the 406 years since the Mayflower landing. Let's say 2 children per-generation, so 52 couples x 2^16 = 3.4 million people.

More to the point, we have 2^16=65,536 ancestors from 15 generations ago. Knowing that one of them was on the Mayflower says nothing of the other 65k+ ancestors.

Or do you believe there's something magical about the Mayflower that was passed on to passengers genes?
>>
>>18763585
If you assume 3.5 kids per generation, you get 31,439,845,204 or 4 times the current estimated world population.
