Wear a poncho with "regular" clothes and it might look like like a stylistic choice. Wear one with a cowboy hat? Or cowboy boots? You're in full on larp territory

Even in the south/south west, where it's still a little culturally acceptable to dress with a western style, wearing a cowboy hat makes you look like you are larping. Just don't give a fuck, wear what you want. Neo-westerns are cool as fuck, anytime you do anything outside of the norm it will take some experimentation until you're able to find what works for you, get fully comfortable, and refine the look.
Are Stetsons actually good hats? I kinda like the Bozeman 250 but I'm not really a hat guy and don't really do anything that warrants wearing one. I'd definitely go and try it on in person first but idk how to tell a good hat from a bad hat.
