Sadly no one seems to make voile shirts anymore which are arguably even better. I have a 30s/40s era arrow tuxedo shirt with a body made of voile fabric and it lets me keep cool even with a heavy weight wool barathea tuxedo jacket more suited to winter than summer. Can only imagine if I actually went and made the jacket in summer weight. Only downside is you can't take off your jacket or you look pretty naked.

Most people who go to the circus won't care whether your jacket is single- or double-vent. They're just there to have a good time.

you need at least 2x6 for extension of the side part, on both sides. This is the one that sits under the back panels and will be visible when the vents open. Ideally, you'd also have the same amount also on the inner side, where it connects to the back panel. So you'd need 4 such strips.
Closing the existing single vent should be possible. You cannot take the material from there and use it for the side vents, without it looking strange.
My suggestion would be to get a very similarly fabric, maybe even just a plain red one, just for the vents.
Best discuss it with the alterations tailor. They will probably decline it, mostly because adding the vents there is a non-standard operation for them and they usually want easy and fast work. Second, even if they can do a vent in such a way the result may look strange and leave you dissatisfied, so that's also a risk for them.

Bought myself a Barbour from the 90s.

As expected, it smells old, like an old book or a crayon... It's not a particularly bad smell, but it's not something you'd want to smell like.

I'm looking to replace my entire wardrobe in the next year or two because I've been wearing the same clothing for a decade or so.
I haven't noticed up until this point because I'm a working professional that's been kicked from job to job and nobody has given a fuck. Now I am beginning to care and I want to reduce and replace my wardrobe.
How much money should I be expecting to spend? I am a "young" professional entering early middle age and I want to look my age with dignity. Part of me has always wanted to wear vests every day to work, but I know that it might be more trouble than it's worth and the people I work with would find it irritating. I practically overdress as it is. If it comes down to just setting up a small wardrobe of nice weekend clothing and using blase inoffensive weekday clothing, that would probably work.

Tell me if this is a stupid idea. So I was in a wedding the other day and the bride wanted the guys to do this funky rosebud knot. Took forever, had like zero margin of error because you're working with the thin end instead of the thick one so you really need to give yourself room from the start. The guys with fat necks were borderline Donkey Kong. I looked around a bit and there's a couple other showoffy knots that are like that. Would it be ridiculous to have the Chinese make a tie with a few extra inches just on the short part but otherwise the same for the next time the wife wants me to do some origami shit, or should I just git gud?

Yes, I have the Berg&Berg tweed Nelson (not Nelson II), I think it's 600gsm ish with viscose lining.
Tweed is loosely woven so it lets wind through very easily. Maybe not if the lining is poly. You'd need to wear a windproof layer underneath. At around -15C coat + shetland sweater + shirt is not enough and I'm thinking about buying maybe a jacket liner or sth like Patagonia Nanopuff/thin Uniqlo Puffertech.
Turns out there is a reason somebody invented boiled wool, ventile and moleskin. With European winters I don't think you'd get many occasions to wear say a 900gsm boiled wool coat.

I've put on alot of weight recently and now all my clothes are too tight to be comfortable. Should I get them altered to fit, or should I just ditch dressing /tip/ entirely until I manage to lose weight?
On one hand, looking good makes you feelt good, and feeling good puts you in a better position to take control of your life.
But on the other hand, adjusting clothes is a pain, and fat people don't like good in general so it might be just a waste of time and I should just wear sweatpants.
