For some reason whenever I use these safety razors I have a hard time getting a proper shave and usually get cutsI have better experience using cheap low quality disposable razors
I'm hijacking this thread, for those who have tried the Rockwell 6S and the Henson AL13, which do you prefer and which is better in your opinion?
I jivejacking this thread, spending $2 for twelve dual-bladed, pivoting head disposable shaving razors when I shave once a week (Monday morning) which lasts me 3 months is the best choice. A clean, completely safe, fast shave.Oh and "Barbasol" is also, like, $2 and a can lasts me, like, 5 years.

>>18758589Need to find the right balance of razor and blades. I was given some old Gillette as my first razor and got random blades that sucked. I almost gave up, but picked up a slant razor just to try and found it to be much better. Then I just started testing blades from a sample pack before figuring out Astra worked the best. It's ultimately a meme, but now that I have a combo that works I get the appeal a little more and the cost savings everyone shills about are finally present.

>>18758589You are not doing it right, it takes some time to get used to it, learn to shave at the right angle and apply almost no pressure at all. I can shave my entire head and face in the shower in less than 20 minutes after several years. Safety razors are not le leddit per se, it's fanatical obsession and creating an entire personality around rampant consumerism as a hobby that is. This can also apply to clothing brands, video games, TV shows, cars or anything else with an overly zealous fanbase that aggressively rejects non-purists. In the end of the day plastic disposable razors are ball-shavers, the safety razor does the job well, is cheap and reliable in the long run and produces no plastic waste. I am not an environment schizo either, but disposable plastic garbage should be severely reduced as it does actually pollute the environment and is a huge waste, not to mention cheapening and enshittification of the majority of consumer products that could be made of wood, metal or glass and last years on end.

(I have not used the original blade but regular "cocaine" blades work really well, as long as they're surgical grade)The single-edge experience is very different from double-edge. The blades are much stiffer and thicker. They also last longer.Single-edge never caught on as well as double-edge. Gillette's marketing was great, even then.

I've had my safety razor for about 13 years, since I was in college. I usually just trim to stubble with a Wahl trimmer but here is what I can tell you about safety razors. If you are getting cuts, that means you are trying to use strokes that are too long and/or you are using too much pressure. Work in very short strokes and do not press the razor into your skin. Try holding the razor with both hands to brace it and make sure it doesn't slip side to side. If you are getting a bad shave, you are probably not getting the angle right. You may have to experiment with blade angle/how far out from your face you hold the handle. Also make sure you have good shaving cream, the Nivea stuff in the can works great and is cheap.
