Why the fuck is nobody talking about this? About half a year ago, me and a couple of my friends wanted to pull a prank on our mutual friend. The idea was that we'd replace his shampoo with a solution of citric acid and water, hoping that over time, as he washed his hair, it would turn into a clumpy mess. But after about a month, we didn't notice any hair problems on him — on the contrary, his hair seemed to have gotten better. Suspicious of this guy, I decided to try it myself — I diluted some citric acid in water and washed my hair with it for a week. And I was fucking blown away — my long-term dandruff started disappearing. From what I understand, citric acid is active enough to break down dandruff flakes on the scalp, but not aggressive enough to actually damage the hair. The only side effect I noticed was that after showering, my hair felt a little sticky, but that’s easily fixed by just rinsing it again with plain water. I guess if I keep doing this long-term, there might be some side effects, but for a short period of time, it’s a great solution if you’ve got shitty hair.
