What is "Americana"? I am trying to understand this aesthetic/style/lifestyle/etc. and I'm finding it incredibly difficult to pin down. Seems to be encompassing of several styles that all fall under this "Americana" umbrella. Western, heritage workwear, ivy/prep, military, pinup, etc. These all seem to be considered AmericanaHow would you describe Americana and what sort of clothing comes to mind when you hear it?

americana for me is about a nostalgia for an idealized version of america. whether that version of america actually existed or not is irrelevantworkwear and heritage clothing exists because people look to the past when clothes were better, made better, better materials. they want to go back to that version of americawestern looks back to the wild west period which was foundational to so many american myths and stories, despite the actual period not being near as "wild" as the stories saysame thing with ivy/prep. people are looking back to a "more civilized" time in american history when people dressed better, were interested in intellectualism and education, etc. same reason people are dressing up in suits now. the suit is dead, but what it represents to them is a different and better time to the wearerbasically to me, americana is just nostalgia for a version of america that doesn't exist anymore. i kinda dig it

It’s communist workwear for Americans sprinkled with Coca Cola.
>>18766428This captures it very well. It's present day amerilards looking around and hating their disgusting jewified country and then trying to escape to a purer ideal. Good luck with that.
>>18766424>>18766428Yes, Americana doesn't exist, it is a fantasy. If OP wants to nail it down he should look towards Japan because it's there that the fantasy has taken most hold and is still alive
