Easiest way to tell if someone is larping or being their authentic self?
>>
so is larp the new word zoomers just learned?
>>
>>18772361
no. they've been misusing it for several years now, even on this very website.
>>

Very, very few people are their authentic selves. Everyone has larped as normal to some degree. A Chinese kid dressed in 70s western wear isn't larp, it's fashion. Now if he faked an accent and personality... yeah that'd be larping

they keep fidgeting and looking unsure of themselves

He records shit like this and have a self-conscious expression. That's it.

What I don't get about people who dress this way is it they are willfully ignorant of the general aesthetic this style developed around or if they are simply trying to be subversive?! And I am not even talking about this style being misplaced in a city setting. That's whatever. But rather it looking ridiculous on this body type, with this hair cut (and by extension this ethnicity). If you LARP as a cowboy at least have a matching haircut and build. This looks as dumb as wearing a suit with a fade. There's no aesthetic cohesion whatsoever.

This kid really has a Jenna say "Quoi??!?"

He has a very deben'air allure.

I’m certainly not a zoomzoom and think OP didn’t misuse the word larp.

Back to breddit with your pedantry.

>>18772394
cool so maybe you could provide a definition then instead of just an assertion, dumbass

Wallah this thread is full of fucking larpers

The main problem in pretty much every interest these days, not just fashion, is anyone that wants to get involved in it can easily get extremely overeducated while being very inexperienced. You can spend a week watching prescribed runway shows and videos of people explaining aesthetics to you (while they are in the exact position you are) and from there go around pretending you know what aesthetic is yours and buying designer clothes and thrifting. It doesn't mean you actually know what you're doing, you just copy what you saw. It doesn't occur to most people that they can arrive at their aesthetic through time and trial and error. They want it now because Tiktok promised it to them if they spent $1000 on trendy menswear items or whatever "archive" designer is considered good this year. The most damaging to fashion and aesthetics as an interest is the growing idea that fashion is a costume and not indicative of your self. They quote Ralph Lauren saying he wanted to become other people but forget the part where he started doing those things. A great example is all the people buying things like Rick Owens shoes because of hype and not because his aesthetic makes sense to them. Now all those guys are selling their Ramones. All this began with the workwear/mustache stuff becoming trendy and it has only gotten worse as those guys now believe they know anything.

Mustache before 30

larp as a term to describe someone pretending to be something they aren't has been around for a decade. You're just dumb
>>

I'm fully aware of the word, I'm asking if it is the new buzzword that zoomers just learned. Improve your reading comprehension skills.

Clothing is most useful when its physical, social, and expressive functions are compatible with the life of the person wearing it. It should facilitate their movement through their routines and environments while allowing them to inhabit an identity and level of formality that feels genuinely appropriate to them. When clothing instead imposes persistent practical or psychological friction without serving a meaningful purpose, it ceases to function as an extension of the person and becomes a nuisance.
