For example a big thing for CdG is button hole stitching; there is a particular method they use that results in stiff and robust button holes. Even the Unused jeans I'm wearing now have better button hole stitching than any pair of Acne, Eytys or APC jeans I've ever worn.

I think normies would notice that an item is special foremost if the fit is perfect and has an appealing feel or lustre to it. You can get the better fit by spending more money if you do made to measure or bespoke. And the same applies to the fabric here, you can buy better and higher quality fabrics. This is something people will see and think the clothes look impressive even if they can't put their finger on what makes them think that way.The example suit deliberately fits poorly however so even if it had double the price tag most people would just brush it off.
